glad to hear you like them. I ran the EBC rotors for a long time and I loved them. The Hawks are also a very good pad.

Make sure you "bed" the brakes. You can do a search for "bedding brakes", that should take care of the noise.

Now go and install SS braided brake lines and you will really notice a big difference.

Love the low dust and bite I get with my Hawks but the noise is getting annoying.

Mine are still noisey, really noisey, 2500 miles later. I've had other brands of cross drilled that were nothing like these for noise. EBC says on their site that they will do something for people that can't deal with the noise. I emailed them. We'll see, I hope they do.

They have a new line out now without the dimples and with narrower slots. They are supposed to solve the noise problem.

big slots and cross-drilled are always going to be a noise problem, the price you pay for goodies.

on my old car, i had EBC Rotors/and greenstuff pads. i loved that combo. but i love my hawks now. they do sqeak a bit still on light application of the brake but that is liveable and the light to zero dust on the wheels is a plus in my books

Just purchased the same set up and am concerned about where they tell you to have the rotors read with a runout gage or something. Is this absolutely necessary?

platnum350, it is not absolutely necessary, I would bet most people don't bother with this step, I know I didn't.

vizage, I got my EBC pads and rotors at http://www.autopartswarehouse.com delivery was fast and correct.

On a side note, after having both EBC Sport rotors with Greenstuff and the new EBC Ultimax rotors with Redstuffs, I like the Ultimax/Redstuff combo better. The Sports made to much of the swooshing noise while the Ultimax are silent.

Not having the hubs and thus the rotors perfectly parallel with pads add to the noise signature.............shish, shish, shish as the high stop rotates around.

Why you measure and use shims [brake align] to perfectly true the rotor to hub to better than oem spec: <0.0028" peak to valley.

http://www.brakealign.com/pdfs/instructionsforuse.pdf

Really great and QUIET brakes takes serious work repeated often!

This is where I got my EBC rotors and pads. Unfortunately I didn't have the same experience as HyperSprite. I didn't bother to check if I got a right and left rotor before I started the install. Put the rights on, then proceeded to the left side and realized I had 2 right side rotors. Then I tried to resolve the situation with their "Sales specialists" and they refused to send me new rotors due to the fact that it would most likely happen again. Then I hear a guy pick up the phone while I was talking to my lady sales specialist. She had to tell her dad to hang up. Crazy, guess their doing this remotely out of their home or something. Anyway, talked to EBC directly and their taking care of the problem. Other than that they were inexpensive and have quick delivery.
Sorry, had to vent...Z still brakeless.

HyperSprite, thanks for your input on the mounting the rotors.

Interesting article..quite brakes are a nice thing. Not sure if im up to speed to do this though, don't have the gauges. If it will work decent w/ out paying for professional install, i'll just do it without....I guess.

5,000 miles later and my rotors are still noisy. I also think they may have become glazed over during my bedding session a long time ago. Any thoughts?

I also get my brake light during heavy braking now. Fluid is above the Min --- line. Thanks.

I ordered all 4. Hawk HPS Pads, EBC Sport Rotors.

In addition to my previous question. Did anyone install shims on their pads when doing a clean install of pads and rotors? If I dont get a solution I am considering taking the shims out. Dunno if it will do anything though.
