Yeah, WTF are those rotors coated with?

Calipers look awesome. Did he do all the disassembly/reassembly of the pistoins, seals, etc., too?

Those rotors are the new EBC Ultimax (semi slot, earlier Ultimax was plain non slotted) and are silent (like stock rotors, unlike EBC Sport slot/dimple type).
The coating is hard black anodizing, it is now gone from the rotor surface and it all looks pretty good (the zinc (gold) on the Sports were also not my cup of tea). They are made in the US according to the box even though EBC is a UK company and the design of the rotor itself is exactly like stock with non-directional veins having casting lines in the center of them, same machine faces, etc., the only difference I could find was the slots.
I found them here (and yes those prices are per pair)

I don't believe Mike dissembles the calipers, from what I recall, he masks them, strips and coats them. His oven is low temperature so it is far less than what the rubber sees during normal use.

hyper- how long have you had those rotors on your car. The price is really cheap. I bought a pair from stillen that cost twice as much. but since the price is so low I am worried about the quality of the rotors, cause i believe you pay for what you get.

I have always had EBC rotors on my cars, except this one. They have very good quality and a great price. IMO

I am with USN HM 350Z, I have had EBC pads and rotors on my other cars for years and never had an issue. Although those cars were much lighter than the Z.

Also, before I bought the Brembos, I had the EBC Sport rotors with my non-brembo before the conversion, they have 12k miles on them and seem fine, no warping or cracking. The only reason I did not buy the Sports again is the gold color and swooshing sound the dimples/slots make. It is only really noticeable on the freeway next to the K rail with the windows down but it turns out, I drive that way almost every day.

At this point I only have about 2k miles on them and they are working as expected although but 2k is hardly enough time for any sort of test.

I think these happen to be a good value, I just hope they don't catch on to the pricing models some of the other companies use.

By the way, this is the EBC website http://www.ebcbrakes.com/

USN HM 350Z - Do you think you can send me those pictures Mike sent you? I have been meaning to either get a polished plenum or something different.

The paint is a ceramic based paint. Clear coat would be a waste of time.
