Default Riding your car with the hand break on?!!

I know this may sound like a stupid question. However, I decided to let afriend drive my Z because I was a bit drunk. I figured that it was the resposible thing to do. At least that's what I thought. What happened was that he forgot to release the handbreak and drove the car for like a quarter mile before realizing that the hand break was still engage. Which is what brings me to the Title question. Would this cause damage to my breaks?

I would greatly apreciate your suggestions on this one.since,im a bit concern that they may be damage to the break system because of this.

Lol this would not cause damage to your brake pads, this would not really cause any damage really depending on how hard the E-Brake was applied.

The only thing that happened was that the park shoe that sits underneath your rear rotors was draggin on the inside of the rotor, I doubt you did any damage at all, you would maybe have to worry about it if you had rear drum brakes however Z's do not, so no, don't worry about anything.

Must not have been ON. If you drive the car with the hand brake ON, it will stall in about 500 feet.

I usually don't ride on my car. I sit in the drivers seat and drive it.

Its fine, your e-brake isn’t meant to be used while driving and it doesn’t take much to keep a stationary object from moving, hence it wouldn’t lock your tires unless you adjusted it to do that.

umm if you know anything about drifting just about EVERY drifter in D1 and Formula D use their e-brake. Rhys Millen, Keichi Tsuchiya, JR etc.... all of them... and all of them drive RWD cars like the Z, s15, Supra, s13's etc....

they have a certain handbrake mod done so that when you pull it up it doesnt lock, once you release the hand brake it drops back down... this methoad is used for higher speed drifts when Feint drifting and clutch kicking doesnt work as well to get it sideways....

I agree, and to add to that, the e-brake really won't lock up in a straight line unless you really yank on it, try going into a corner at a good rate of speed and pull the e-brake, the tires will lock up a lot easier if your already turning the car.

By the way I have the e-brake lock too its fun to have.

nope i yanked it so hard i prob coulda ripped it off the car, and it barely even slowed me down...

i dont want to take it to the dealership to have them fix it cause i dont want them to say "its fine, he just wants to lock it up so he can slide the car" when really i want to so if a real emergency and i need to use it i know it will actually slow me down...
