Default Fender Gap Differences...

After reading the DIY Spring mount thread...

would it be a bad idea to trim one of my spring mounts to even up the fender gaps?

I know I am not the only one with this problem.

I had uneven fender in the back, wind up using two different lenth springs to even up. No problem, ride is great.

Are you trying to make the front gap even to the rear gap, or make one side equal to the other? In the first case, I have read a DIY thread on trimming the rear upper spring mount to lower the rear a bit. If you have one side unequal to the other, it may be a botched spring install or bad springs. I would say cutting springs is a last resort.

I don't have any personal experience with it, but I don't see too much harm in trimming the rear upper spring mounts. Just make sure you cut both sides the same height, and don't take too much off with your first cut...or you might end up too low in the back and having a rear end sagging issue. Good luck whatever you decide.

Cutting springs = bad. Comon now its a Z, not a civic. If you want to save some money then just buy a set of cheap springs.

What two different springs did you use?

I think I understand what your talking about. My passenger side rear fender gap looks a good half inch larger than my drivers side gap. I have new springs going on when they arrive though and if that doesn't fix it I'll wait till they settle in and may make a trim if necessary to the mount.

Just remember you can trim all you want but you can never put the material back!
