i see alot about whhels and brakes but not a whole lot on coilovers.. i was thinking tanabe or greddy anyone have these or recommend any others

 

But, there IS alot on coilovers. ??? I heard Bob's Discount Coilovers are a good bet. Do NOT get ZEAL's or Ohlin's!!!

 

not for nothing, but there is no way you did any searching and did not come up with tons of threads on every coilover out there....

there are lots of good ones...and lots of bad

you have to tell us what you use your car for, what you can afford, what your goals are with coilovers, etc. Otherwise, there is no way to tell you "what's best"

my goal is to have a comfortable ride with performance !! i see alot of tein and jic but no one has the greddy or tanabe coilovers and no one really seems to comment on the ride .. has anyone had experience with these two????

 

With performance in terms of? Street? Track? Auto-X? What tires will you be running? What other suspension mods have you done or are planning? What does the car do now that you hope to correct with coilovers? How are the roads where you live?


Have not used Tanabe's on the Z yet, so can't comment.

We've got quite a few guys locally running the Greddy - lots of adjustment for dampening. Only critique people have is the rear dampening adjustment. There are two "wands" that they give you, and 2 small holes get drilled into the rear plastic for the wands and adjustment ***** to poke through. Once that's done, you have a very simple way to adjust rear dampening and it remains very low key (can't see it with the hatch closed).

JIC's are a bit on the stiffer side, so depends on the road conditions.

The Tein's work ok - honestly not my favorite coilover when people ask for recommendations, but they are popular sellers never-the-less. I jsut don't find they hvae nearly the dampening adjustment range that many other coilovers have.

HKS RS are also great (I run these). Bilstein PSS9 and KW's also are excellent

As I said, there are LOTS of great coilovers out there, and some that attempt to reinvent the wheel by altering rear spring location, throwing suspension geometry to the wind for the ability to slam the rear of the car. You have to set your budget, speak to some local owners, go to a local meet, and see if you can get rides in some cars if possible, taking note of what tires they also run (tires have the single biggest effect on how the car "feels" on the road.

Otherwise, the most detailed descriptions you are going to tend to get are "I love my xxx brand" or, "I have (insert brand here) and they are great". But without a basis for detailed comparison, it's not really giving you real info.

What would you say is the best for street and track. I daily drive me Z, but I am also going to try and get a lot of track days under my belt.
