Default SPL Control Arm Owners....

Did you guys get an email from SPL offering you their lower profile street spec ball joint for free to cover any potential knocking issues? I got the email yesterday, replied back saying I wanted them, and their being shipped out today! That's what I call customer service. Kudos to SPL for taking the intiative to fix any problems.

IIRC, a rep or someone in the know from SPL posted here that it was a problem limited to G35 owners and a certain number of them making soft spring/low drop choices that caused the problem. So I would not expect that any 350Z owner would have been contacted.

We have only heard of this issue on the G35, but the low-profile ball joint is available free of charge to any owner of our front camber arms.

Kuah & SPL parts are some great people making great parts. Everything so far I have tested for them has no equal on the market. Most other companies can model their customer service off of this company. Great stuff, and nice people to deal with.

Our website is www.splparts.com. However it is down right now due to server/host issues, hope to have it back up soon. In the meantime email us at sales@splparts.com or call 866 SPL PART.

Hurray! Web site is online.

Has anybody used the race-spec A-arms ?
SPL warns of potention contact with the fender when using it. I'm having a hard time visualizing the movement and where the contact could occure?

If you look at the following picture, basically under suspension travel, the top of the nut on the ball joint can hit the top/inside of the fender:

As you can imagine, it would take a lot of suspension travel for this to occur. However if the car is dropped (which reduces travel) and the spring rates are still pretty soft (most lowering springs), and the car is relatively heavy (G35), then it is possible for this to occur.

This is a comparison of the race vs. street ball joints:

^^ once again, great visual description Kuah. These are great arms just as everything else I have seen and tried for SPL. You can get them from SPL themselves or one of its dealers, which I am happy to be one of.

Wow, so the street spec ball joint is actually lower than the stock ball joint? That's what it looks like from the pics. Great job kuah and SPL!

Yup it is slightly lower than the stock ball joint, about as low as is physically possible... Right now we believe our street-spec ball joint has the lowest profile compared to any camber arm available.

Is the street spec ball joint as strong as the race spec. I am considering buying these arms. My only hesitation is noise. I have jic flta2s and had to switch the rear pillowballs for rubber mounts cause is couldn't take the noise. The fronts I get a little knock on bumps. With the spherical bearings 3 per side with these arms are they quiet. I would expect a little noise. I have only heard good things about spl stuff, but I live in nj and the roads are sh*t.
