Default How Soon...

I am lowering my car tomorrow with gf210 tanabe springs it going to lower 1inch front and 1.2 rear, I wondering how soon will I have to get a alighnment because right now I waiting for the rear camber arms and don't want to get two alighnment. One after the lowering and two after the rear camber arms. I won't have them until April 12th but will only be driving my car a total of 7 days or so. Will it be bad for the car? and what are some consiquences I could face by doing this?

thanks

Jonathan

As long as nothing gets messed up during the install it should just affect the camber. This will cause increased tire wear on the inside of the tires. I would not think that driving for 7 days could really cause that much wear on the tires.

Some springs also seem to "Settle In" for a few days after the install, so getting an alignment right away might not keep the car in spec if it does settle any.

Thats what I'm thinking, 7 days couldn't be that bad it will be only a total of around 300-400 miles.

You'll be fine, get it when the arms come in, just make sure you don't rotate the toe bolt when you loosen it to install the rear springs and you'll be okay

I just installed the GF210s this past Friday. I'm going to wait a week or two then get it aligned. I'm still on my winter wheels so a little camber wear is just fine with me. Your not hurting anything but the inside of your tires.

camber and toe go hand in hand...you can't affect one without the other

im waiting a full month. For some reason, if i park on a slope, the coils will uncoil a little bit in the front since thers less load on them?? Im not sure why but it goes higher and then it lowers again. Its weird. Once i had it jacked up and it raised about 1/2 an inch once i lowered it again!
Im going to get an alignment done, but I dont want to have to do it twice when I get the camber rods and A arms.

Is this a sign of bad alignment: Roaring when slowing down at around 20-30 mph?

I'd get the alignment taken care of as soon as you can. The longer you wait, the less likely you are to do it.

springs don't unsettle and resettle.....rubber mounts do. As soon a the car goes over a single bump, after being in the air with the tires unloaded, it will return to the original height. The alignment should be done asap when you do suspension mods, the longer you wait, the worse your tire wear gets. It has nothing to do with how long time wise you wait, it has to do with mileage. 300-400 miles on alignment that's totally out of spec is enough to absolutely wreck a set of new tires to the point where they would need replacement.

As for your noise, that is a sign of bad tires (or just generally noisy tires, which some are), not necessarily a bad alignment

sounds like you overtightened something, open the hood and push down on the strut mounts to see if the suspension travels normally, same for the back

You should get it done quick. Tires are costly.

Dont you have a place that gives a warranty on alignment?

Thats what I had done with my last car. Lowered it -Alignment for $79 with 2 yr warranty.

This way when I got the arms I did an alignment again for free and 2 yrs later when i put the OEM parts back in...... AGAIN free alignment

If you dont want to do 2 alignment because of wasting time then this might not be a good idea for you but if its paying for it 2 times then this might be a better way with minimum unwanted tire wear.

But a few hundred miles with a alignment prob shouldnt mess the tires up too too bad i would think

just put the springs and shocks on, looks good. I can really tell in the rear though with the camber so I won't drive for a little bit till I get the camber arms.
