Tokico D or Tein Basic?
hi guys, i was looking for a mild setup that would retain a similar ride as factory but with a better stance and was wondering if anyone knew if the tokico D or Tein Basic would be closest to that?
Thanks so much
Thanks so much
id do tokicos & order some 442 pound springs from Tokico (pretty sure 442 is the most the D-specs can handle). somebody said basics are heavy and have mediocre valving

Tokico D-spec as in just the shocks, or the D-spec shock and spring package?
In coilover's, what comes to mind in a a "simular ride" to the factory setup would be, Tein CS and Bilstein PSS9. Though I don't know what your oem baseline starting point is, as in 03/04 or 04.5+. The Nismo S-tune shock and spring setup is well liked as is the HKS RS coilover setup.
Oem spring rates 03/04 314/342
Oem spring rates 04.5-07 314/427
Tokico D-spec shock & spring package
350Z - DSK512 -
Spring rates 375f/375r - Linear Springs 1"/1.5"
Tein Basic (twin tube construction, non adjustable dampners )
Spring rates 504/504
Tein CS (Monotube constructionad, adjustable dampners )
Spring rates 392/392
Note: Comfort valved, may not offer the performance increase some way wish for.
Bilstein PSS9 coilover (Monotube construction, adjustable dampners)
Special Note: Mild spring rates, but Bilstein says the dampners are performance valved
Spring rates 370/240-420 (rear progressive)
Note: Mild spring rates and a wide rate spread progressive rear spring
Nismo S-tune (twin tube construction, uses progressive springs)
350Z .8"/.8" drop
Spring rates 448/504
Note: Another suspension system that is well liked by the majority of owners that have the setup. Progressive springs, no height adjustment and no dampning adjustablity means they won't be "the" system for everyone.
HKS RS (Monotube construction, adjustable dampning)
Spring rates 448/448
Note: “Marketed” as HKS’s track coil over with a good street ride. One of a few coilovers for the Z that is highly reguarded by those that have the system installed.

And looking at preload level's to get to that height, I don't know that I"d recommend taking the setup higher. Getting to max height would mean 2.4" worth of spring preload in the front.
Min and max amounts are listed here

to tokico D spec drop 1"/1.5"? thats a bit much. im trying to not have to buy cambers. so that leaves me with the Tein basic but the spring rate is 500. is 314/427 to 500/500 that much of a ruffer ride. im in a 07'. thanks for the great info guys. this really is helpful
