Default So ****in fustrated right now! Sway install

More problems...

ok...3 more hours still no result. I tried fitting the sways on but the brackets won't go in at the same time. One would go in 100% then the other will go in 50%...I tried every way, even removing the collars that came with them...I'm just going to take a break right now and tomorrow morning I'll get back to it. In the mean time any help would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks

Alvin

Been down under the car for 4 hours now and this is just the front ones.

Stock - stripped 2 bolts. They're literally welded onto the damn car, it's the hex nuts too. So I finally went to Home Depot and got a kit to take off stripped bolts. Then the kit failed to work...until 1 hour later it finally give...and here I'm thinking it's a ****in break through! Then....

Hotchkis - can't fit it into the car right. It's on there but nothing is going through. This is such a mess. I swear all my cars are cursed with Alvin's car disease. Why does everything on my car has to be so hard to work on!!!!!!!!!

I'm thinking there more than a few of us here using Hotchkis sways, do they definitely DO fit. If you're having fitment problems, are you sure you have the one they make for the 350? It should be virtually identical to the stock sway, just a little larger and with 4 holes on the end instead of 1.

you need a lift and air tools. Good penatrating grease too. try to calm down, the more you are stress, the more it seems you run into problems.

Are you having problems getting the end links disconnected from the swaybar or the swaybar brackets from the frame?

I found it easier to remove the other end of the endlinks then remove the swaybar and endlinks together. Once they were off the car, it was a breeze to get the endlinks loose from the swaybar. There's not a whole lot of room under there to get sockets on the nuts if I remember correctly.

If your going to work on your own stuff, you need to chill. It either fits or it dont. If you get pissed....walk away.

That doesnt mean, walk away and drink a beer.

Just means ...clear your mind

only thing that doesn't fit easily is the rear bar if you don't drop the exhaust. but drop unbolt the exhaust between the muffler and b-pipe and everything goes in easily.

I feel your pain. I put the sways on with the assistance of air tools. Without them it would have taken me a lot longer. The rear wasn't nearly as bad as everyone says, just drape a towel over the exhaust if you don't want to scratch the bar. You just have to be a little creative sliding the rear on and you wont need to drop the exhaust. Took me about 20 mins to do the rear.

Make sure you have quality tools. Bad tools strip bolts easily. Air tools are preferable but many have done it without any power tools, including myself. Good luck, be patient!

It will always be harder than you anticipate....be patient. I installed HID's last month, took 3 hours when I thought it was going to be an hour long job, tops.

Came out great though.

Are you sure the bar isnt on the wrong way? The first time I did it I tried to put the bar on backwards and it kept hitting stuff. I then flipped it around and it went right on.

Also, how are you taking off the collars? On my setup they were welded in place. Try moving the endlinks around a little...they have an awkward movement range

Actually I told her if she doesn't cooperate I'll stop washing her...and guess what, today the front install was done in an extra 1.5 hour and the rears took like 45 mins (super easy rear install). I drove around the block only but I just finished washing her so now it's time for the real test

My point, when I said "walk away" Next time you will relize when the "walk away" point is before you reach the "going Ballistic" point. A thousand times I have walked away muttering, only to return to a simple relaxing finish up.

One bolt was a PITA on the front bar for me , but two days ago i went to adjust the bar (soften the front ) and siezed an endlink bolt. Had to cut the sucker off. $25 later and the endlink will be in tomorrow.
