Default Car Transported-->Suspension Shot

Hey guys it's been a while since i posted and i was hoping someone could help me out. did a search but didn't find anything.

So...had my car transported over 1000 miles this past week. on tuesday, the guy loaded the car onto an open carrier and anchored the car down so much that the tires were slightly within the tire well. i asked if it would create too much stress on the OEM suspension parts and he said no..."cars are transported to dealerships like this all the time." considering this was my first time doing this, i took his word for it even though i didn't feel well. so on friday, i pick up the car and drive it home. the drive was very loose to say the least. i arrive home only to find that the car seemed lower on the rear right by about a 1/2 inch. the next morning my whole car seemed equally lowered by about a 1/2 inch at all corners.

i lifted the car by one of the rear tire wells to hear it squeak a little bit...never happened before.

?: are my shock absorbers spent? what else could do this to my car? and, gulp, do i have to spent $$$ on a new suspension?

Please help me.

As the driver said, vehicles are transported the same way every day. And the suspension is not broken during transport. I dont get it.

If you vehicle can take the rigors of normal driving; potholes, speed bumps, rough roads etc, then it will surely survive sitting on a trailer being chauffeured 1000 miles. The driver simply ties the car down to the point where the coils compress a little, to prevent too much bouncing on the back of the trailer. I would be surprised if any actual damage did occur. Regarding the lowering 1/2 inch, perhaps your springs just settled in a compressed state...if that's the case, then they'll go back to their normal 4x4 height after a little driving.

Drive it around and itll settle back to how it should. What happens with why it feels loose IMO is that the alignment is really weird because of it being lowered so much.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I'll drive it around the countryside to see if I can't have the suspension return to normal.
