Default lowering springs, how long till I need new shocks?

I am pondering about lowering my Z with either Tein S tech or some Hotchkis. How long can I get away with it till i need new shocks? I have heard that with these two and some alignment and camber my shocks should be safe?

It'll be fine but you can save yourself labor cost (or time, if you're DIY) by replacing both the shocks & springs at the same time.
