Default H&R, Bilstein, Koni's?

Does anyone have experience with how well the H&R springs work with our stock shocks?

Anyone know when bilstein or koni may come up with shocks for our cars?

Ground control says that they should have an application for our cars in 2-3 months.

Thanks.

I got an email from Gordon at Koni yesterday saying "at least late summer."

VQ is right on that one. Another thing once you get shocks and then add the ground controls you have spent nearly as much as a inexpensive set of coilovers.

Bilsteins are out? Are you talking about the one's that are oem in japan? If not, part number's please as bilsteins web site lists no application for the 350Z.

On Koni sports, Gordon also told me this fall. Koni sports are what I'm waiting for to do my suspension.

I was down at Tokico last week, they have developed a 40 way adjustable shock for the z with springs, I would definately wait a few months for this to come out. It is going through R&D and testing now. I'll have more info in a couple of weeks.

I got an e-mail from Gordon at Koni, he says 6 months! Discouraging, they are my 1st choice. Bilsteins are coilovers and available now. I put KYBs on my 240 and they were very stiff, I don't need stiffer, I want no bounce on my 17s. Tokiko's site is mute about the Z, I don't know why.

Strange Koni is taking so long. Carter Thompson here in town is running some custom Konis they've been developing with him on his autocross car for several months now. You'd think they'd be at least a bit farther along in development of a street shock.

Have you consider a full coilover system?

Are these available in the US? Can't see them on the Bilstein US web site and they are not available from shox.com.

I think the point for some of us was just to fix the bounce with a stiffer shock, without spending the money on a full coilover setup. I also am a bit leary of lowering the car much due to my driveway.

40 or 4 way adjustable? I had 5 settings on my Tokiko Illuminas for my 91 MR2T, do you mean they are developing separate shocks and springs like we have now? Or coilovers? The reason I am asking you is because it was a headache adjusting shock settings and tire pressures for changing conditions, cold or warm weather especially, for the MR2T.

They are on VQ's DA List, I remember and I think he said they were out, but only coilovers. Maybe I misremembered.

I am with you, MB. All I want is a set of good shocks that cure the bounce, I don't need springs, I need shocks w/better rebound control, period.

But your much more likely to have had a previous experience with a branded sport strut, one that you know is well engineered. Rather than taking a shot in the dark with a off branded cheap coilover where your fingers are crossed that you agree with the other guy that say's he has them on his car and say's when asked how he likes them, "oh yeah, love'em". Plus with the ground control coilovers you can choose your spring rate's, a very beneficial asset that isn't avaliable to you otherwise.

I'll put up the arguement that Koni sports are a better strut in a head to head comparision to Illumina's.

The issue of oem JDM Bilsteins really isn't a big deal since I was told that they(and the springs they run with) are softer than the setup the USDM Z's have.

No argument from me, but the Illuminas were very good on my MR2T.
