Eibach Pro-Kit: Do I need a camber kit or not?
Hey guys,
I ordered my Eibach Kit, and now a lot of (sensible) people are telling me I need a camber kit. Problem is, a lot of people are telling me I don't. What to do??? Can someone please explain exactly what I should do about this? It has me sort of worried =\

Why don't you install the springs first, then get an alignment afterward.. If the spec is way out of range, then worry about the camber kit.. Which is not cheap..
FYI, I have the Eibach springs and I don't have the camber kit.

1. I have a tire feathering issue and if I put on new Eibachs Nissan will say that I caused the problem. I dont want to buy Eibachs and a camber kit and then find out that the new springs killed my warranty.
2. My car an inch or so lower may be too low for my driveway and california vehicle code.
3. I put Eibachs on a 85 300zx turbo I had once, it required a camber kit on the rears. I ended up installing the kit myself because I couldn't find any one to do it . It was not fun to install and very crudely engineered.
My opinion today is that installing Eibachs are more trouble than they are worth. Maybe that will change with more information.
I was debating if I should install the Eibach now or wait until the feathering solution comes out.. I decided to get the Eibach now since I think Nissan will not come out with a fix soon, or ever.. Not all 350z has the feathering problem, so they are not that concern IMO. Only the early models are affected.
I figure that I can try the $220 upgrade to see if it actually fix the feathering problem... so far so good. I have 2400miles since the spring and it's not feathering.
If there is really a TSB out for the feathering, and it's not relates to changing factory springs, then I would put the my old springs back on and get the warranty done at the dealer. Who knows when...
But to answer your question about the alignment after spring installation, I did not get it align after the spring. IMO, I don't think it's necessary since it's 0.8drop front 1" drop rear.. But that's just my opinion.

LOTUS QUotes "How do you adjust stock rear camber 3/4 degree? Is there just play in the bushings? I have Eibach's, but I now have 3.5 deg camber in back and I have lost traction exiting corners. My front is also almost 2.5 and braking is probably affected
Other areas of performance may be affected as LOTUS points out and Keep a close eye on your tires .
I have the Eibachs, no align yet.
I have feathering but It was on it's way before the Eibachs. Seems light, hard to tell visualy, but I hear the noise.
A) If the feathering issue becomes addressed by a TSB or recall, the Eibachs won't matter, unless the solution is to change the OEM springs, in which case, why would you care.
B) If the feathering issue never gets addressed by NNA, the Eibachs don't matter either.
My next step : The noise is bothering me, so I will ask them (tire shop, not dealer) to flip my tires side-to-side and then align.

In my opinion you should always get an alignment when you change springs. The one stupid thing about adjustable coil overs is that when you change the ride height it throws off the alignment a little. That one inch drop changes the center of gravity which changes the weight distribution spread over the tire. You may not notice it that much, but the tires may wear a little funny, and it could change the handling characteristics of the car.
