Sure no problem. I think this will be my setup for next time too.

And +1 on your comment about Adam (and Z1 in general)!

Also Ravi, make sure you note which year you have. I know the caliper sizes (and therefore I think brake pads), grew larger in 2005 (or 2006) for the front brakes. Just an FYi.

I am running the Project Mu Ns and the bite is significantly less than OEM. There have been times when I was going pretty fast and needed to stop, and when I got on the brakes I could feel them not being able to hold, unlike the OEM's, I never had this problem before...scary stuff when coming up to an intersection.

That is quite disconcerting. Did you bed them in properly?

Something must be up. You need to get it rechecked.

Whats funny is people liking the Nismos and I think the have much less bite than OEM when cold and not much better braking performance than OEM pads on my brembo equipped Z....

I know I have to give up a little on the cold side to get better hot braking but even when warmed my Nismos dont feel any better when slower the car from 100 or so than OEM pads

Is it just the material lasting longer than OEM under those conditions?

I am hoping for better luck on my next pad choice, fluid change, rotor upgrade, stainless lines....not cheap though ....but well worth the confidence in braking over stock for me

I bedded the pads in properly. I think I'm gonna switch over to the Endless Nuova next.

Nismo pads are nice. Offer low dust. Very low noise.

best bet is to get ceramic based pads. Many companies make them, you can even get some from NAPA. They are what Lexus and other luxury brands use, super quiet and least amount of dust compared to conventional pads.

For conventional, I would recommend Axxis Metal Masters for low dust and less fade than OEM:

No noise.

The Ultimate pads have more dust than OEM, so stick with the metal masters, I won't use any other pad.

Question

Bump this threat back to live.

Time to change my pad, planning to upgrade to Stoptech Stage 2. I am debating on the brake pad. Have anyone had both Axxis Ultimate and Project Mu NS pad? I want to see the comparsion for both pads. Z is my daily car. Uses it for track like once a year only.

FWIW I have had both Hawk HP+'s and axxis ultimates. Initially (1st 5k) the Hawks were quite but dusted more than stock. The ultimates were noisy from the get go, but had less dust. I am having porterfield rs4's installed soon. Hopefully they don't dust like the hawks or make noise like the ultimates.

Porterfields are quiet, but dusty...but also killed my rotors (I used to run them on my AP kit)

I guess they are slightly oversized, so it would eat into the inside of the rotor surface (the non-surfaced part). I ended up milling the edge of the brake pads to a slight angle with a dremel. I did it again about 12k miles later, i guess the angle had warn away to the flat original size. Otherwise, they were low on dust decent on stopping, wet and dry.

Lots of people have said the Ultimates are kinda noisy and have LOTS of dust. If you can live with that they are great pads.

I think I am going to go with Centric Posi Quiet Semi-Metallic pads. I have heard alot of good things about them, quiet and low dust plus they are not too expensive.

How is the bite on those pad? Would they hold up for a track day?

Axxis pads are not track pads...as in, you can't race with them

But keep in mind that a "track day" is alot different than racing....in the end, it all depends on the driver, the car setup, etc.
