Default Ultimate brake pad thread: What's the least noisy with minimal dust?

Sup all...

Man I guess my Z is getting old, LOL with 27k miles on it I am starting to get a rediculously loud squeaking sound from the front right side.

I'm certain this is b/c I need new brake pads--the sound comes on during braking and at very low speeds and is sooooo loud! It makes the car seem like a POS.

What is the ultimate/best brake pad for the LEAST amount of noise (none) and minimal brake dust? What does install usually run on this item?

Thanks!
Ravi

Probably Hawk HPS or Project Mu NS. I had Project Mu B-Force before and they had about 30% less dust than oem, but they squealed very loudly once in a while. And I put plenty of anti-squeal on it.

I bet if you just get the rotors turned the noise will go away. My Hawk HP+ were making noise, I had the rotors turned, noise went away. Never heard another squeek out of them.

Other than that info, I'd get OEM pads. Save your money for other stuff.

NISMO pads would be great, or Endless Vita Nuova

I'd get them changed asap before you score the rotors

no I mean driving around wtih pads at their wear mark, which it sounds like you are at, will absolutely wreck a set of rotors beyond what resurfacing can cure, in no time

So I'm unsure--does that mean I should get new pads...asap...or conversely do I need new pads and rotors? Or just rotors? Sorry I'm somewhat of a noob at this.

Or LOL should I just buy a BBK =)

New pads and resurface the rotors if they are still repairable.

Axxis is noise free and doesn't emit too much brake dust. However, they're not ideal for track use, if you're planning to track your car.

Can dealers do this? And what does the install cost for pads...as well as how much are the pads/resurfacing?

Do you have brembos or non-brembos?
Why don't you just look into Stoptech Stage 2 upgrade? Just upgrade to better pads, slotted rotors, and SS brake lines while at it

or since I know you're a baller go all out and get some Endless BBKs

Gasazabi whassup playa. Thanks for the help in this thread. I have non-brembos. Still contemplating what to do. I just don't want to damage anything. Fortunately I don't drive the car too much these days, but I want to change this stuff sooner than later.

I got hawks on my brembo's, they rarely squeak. There's about half as much dust at oem but the bite is less. I'm going to try a better biting pad next time even if it means a bit more dust.

My old hawks made no sound at all and have about 1% of brake dust on my wheels. I wash my car every week and a half or so. Never saw any dust. It's just the fact that the pads, themselves, suck.

I ran Hawk HPS for a while with no issues. They did squeak some when they got hot, but its not that bad. Running Endless CCX now up front with my BBK and they are AMAZING!!!

I'm running EBC Redstuff, no noise, no dust and they are easy on the rotors.

I'll be getting then again unless some new miracle pad comes out that cleans the wheels and makes the tire noise go away.

Chris, knowing how meticulous you are, I'm probably going to go with those as well.

Thanks!!
