Default Coilover lowering capabilities?

I'm in the market for coilovers and I wanted to know how much I could you drop the Cusco Zero 2 Coilovers but still have it work properly as a coilover? I heard that the rubber mount cusco is better over the pillowball mount why is that?

Same Questions for HKS Hipermax II and is the HKS RS coilovers comparable to the Cusco Zero 2 coliovers (same qualities)?

I would like to drop the car 1.5" all the way around or at least an 1 inch.

On the Cusco upper mount issue. Adam at Z1auto, had a issue with the pillowball upper mounts and was resolved when he purchased rubber upper mounts. I recommend that you pm him, he currently has the RS coilover on his Z. Here's a link to his profile so you can pm him. https://my350z.com/forum/members/11322-z1-performance.html

All your choices should drop 1 or 1.5". Be advised the the II hasn't been imported here for some time and the RS is also now discontinued. HKS will have new coilovers out very soon, III add's digressive valving and full length adjustablity.

The pillowball rear mounts on the Cusco's had a problem, and as a result, are no longer imported into the states except via special order. For some reason, rear bearing tolerances seemed to be a bit on the loose side, and as a result, they developed a noise over time.

We found the solution to be replacing the rear pillowballs with the Cusco reinforced rubber mount, and it worked great. As a result, the only coilovers Cusco now brings into the US are the reinforced rubber mount version.

Pillowballs on a Z are essentially useless unless it is a complete all out race car. They won't allow for camber adjustment anyway, so there really is no point in having them IMHO. I would not let the issue of a coilover you are interested in having a pillowball, a rubber mount, or re-using the stock upper mounts play into the decision making at all - it's a non issue

Hipermax II are discontinued, so are the HKS RS - as g35sedan mentioned, the version III units should be arriving stateside very soon
