Default Can someone school me about bushings?

This is actually more pertaining to my DD (94 318is w/ 177k) than the Z, but I'd like to know about what to expect for the Z also when it gets up to higher mileage.

Anyway, this is what i have done so far on the BMW:

- Shocks/Struts
- Rear Camber Arms
- Front Control Arms + Ball Joints (+ pretty sure control arm bushings replaced w/ new arms)
- Rear Shock Mounts
- Springs

These are the parts I planned on replacing next week:

- Sway Bar Bushings FRONT
- Sway Bar Bushings REAR
- Sway Bar Drop Links

These are the parts I am extremely confused about and am not sure if I should replace or not. Can someone please tell me when they should be replaced?

- Trailing arm bushings
- Rear Control Arm bushings? (upper/lower/outer/inner?)
- Rear Control Arm Ball Joint
- Subframe bushings
- Rear Diff Bushings
- ....any other bushings i've forgotten because there seems to be a million!

Thanks everyone

Ozone attacks rubber and changes it structure.
Heat vulcanizes rubber and the vulcanization continues .

As a rule of thumb everything rubber needs replacing frequently if as new is desired.

Most last for 7-10 years in South depending upon location.

WURTH makes an excellant rubber protectant that temporarily seals the rubber pores and extends life from ozone but not the heat changes. But you must start when bushing are brand new to extend their life. Inexpensive Silicone spray may not help much with monthly applications, as salt and water will wash it off.

with that many miles and it being 13 years old it is a good idea to change the bushings, I would do them all at once; you can buy a press for about $100 and do them yourself. Once you do them all buy some WURTH like Q45 said and it should be good to go probably the rest of the life of the car.
