I sent an e-mail to the Product Support (Post Sales) person listed on their site on 1/2/08. I explained my issues, mentioned that someone from Stop-Tech referred me, and linked to this thread, but I have yet to hear anything back...

you would be better off calling, vs emailing...sort of a large company, and I'm sure they get an insane amount of email. Also, being a holiday week, not everyone might be back in

Hey Rudy. Thanks for asking...

Nothing yet. I've sent two e-mails. I haven't called though, because, to be honest, I don't know what I would do IF StopTech was to help me out in some way. If they offered to "re-finish" the calipers, I would be inconvenienced in that I would have to remove the brakes, send them out, and have the car out of commission for however long it would take to amend the situation. If I didn't want to wait, I could have the stock brakes put back on for the duration of the "repair," but, in that case, I would just have to shell out more money for the labor of installation and such (I've never done a brake install myself)...

I realize this is all part of the process when you have issues with any part, but what troubles me is knowing that I spent a significant chunk of money on this kit and, before even having a chance to enjoy it, noticed the paint chipping. I paid $100 extra per caliper for this "custom" color and now, regardless of whether StopTech helps me with the problem or I address it, I'll find myself in some sort of a bind.

What they could do is send you a brand new caliper and you return yours once the new one is installed. Only thing is the custom color that would add time to the equation. When I first got my front black calipers from my ST-40 kit, one of the calipers had a pad retention bracket that was the wrong size and thus the brake pad could not fit all the way. I contacted Stoptech about this and they promptly sent me a new caliper free of charge and even paid for returning shipping on the defective caliper. But then again mine was a standard color. Either way good luck with your situation. The brakes are outstanding.

This is not a common issue, as far as we know. We have sold numerous BBK's for all vehicles, all color calipers. We never had an issue or complaint.

The lead time for blue calipers is not as long as you may think. Please PM and we can discuss further.

It has already been covered that that is not the issue. A 2 part exopy paint is used and the hard anodizing applied to the caliper acts as the primer. The same type of precessing is used by other manufacturers as well, including the gold painted OE track model Brembos.

Default Update

I have called StopTech twice and e-mailed a few times and have not received a response. I will be honest and say that I have not been too persistent, as it is Winter and my 'Z' has not seen the road in a few months, so it has not been my first priority. Nonetheless, I am fairly confident at this point that this issue is something I will have to deal with on my own. I am having some minor body work done in a few weeks, so I am going to ask the shop if they can re-do my calipers.

For any StopTech guys who might read this... Any specifics I should know? Any instructions I should tell them before having this done, so as to avoid this aggravation again in the future? Also, would it be too much to ask for a few new decals for my calipers?

OP sorry this hasn't turned out in your favor, but I do appreciate the manner in which you've handled yourself on this issue. Most would not be as level headed in a similar situation.

OP, I think either the vendor or StopTech should take care of this issue, not you.

I own a StopTech 4 wheel BBK as well, have bled them many times and a bit of brake fluid always spills a bit from the bleeder. Mine have not peeled and this is with some trackdays as well.

It looks as if you received a defective product.

WOW.....maybe I need to tell my buddy to reconsider buying a StopTech BBK. Anyone know of a after market brake supplier who actually returns phone calls? I was going to pick up some SS lines, but I don't want to be in the same position as this guy when stuff hits the fan.

I would be getting pissed at this point.

If you are going to have that done, why not just get them powder coated..go to this website and see what you think. He gave me a price of $300 for all 4 calipers and hats.. www.thepowdercoater.com ... hope this helps..
