Default how to keep brake dust off wheels ?

what is the best way to keep brake dust off my new 18" rims ?

the rims have a 3.5 lip on all 4 rims, the front wheels get real dirty in about 2 days.
1. i dont want to swap brake pads.

2.dont want to clean them every 2 days.

3. not sure if they make Kleen wheel covers for my 18 x 9 wheels.
my wheels are hp designs.

4. can i use a spray or chemical to keep the dust off. someone told me to use pam cooking spray, how bout vasoline or silicone spray ?

any help would be appreciated.
thanks.

cant have it all. and brake dust will just stick to oil, so vasoline or oil wont work. plus itll spin off.

some say wax helps, but its not gonna solve the problem.

you need to swap pads, or just clean it. as for any gaurd, yeah... only if you like brake fade and warped rotors.

When you live on a planet that is made of dirt and use products that create more, sometimes you have to clean stuff.

I guess one good way to not worry about it is to either:
1. Stop driving your Z.
2. Remove the brakes.

I am confident that this will cure your brake dust problem. However, the side effects will be more apparent than your brake dust.

Yes, I heard Crystal Guard will work against brake dust.

I also got a 3 inch + lip on my rear wheel, and they get dirty ULTRA FAST. I am going to try CG on them as soon as I can get my car out of the paint shop and ready to go.

Anyone try Crystal Guard on wheel yet?

I haven't tried this yet, but I've wondered if this idea might work.

Assuming that static bears some blame in dirty wheels, I've wondered if wiping a clean, dry wheel with a Bounce or Cling-free anti-static sheet would help. These are the sheets thrown into the clothes dryer when clothes are being dried. My "thought experiment" is to wipe down one half of the wheel--say the half with the valve stem--and then compare the two sides after a few days.

Id imagine that the rim is 100% coated in paint... a clear coat if nothing else, this should buffer the metal from static... even if it doesnt, the material spinning against the air will recharge it.

with that said, I think its the organic portions of a pad that creates the dust... if thats correct, these peices would not be attracted by static.

I have 2 coats on my wheels. It helps some. Ie, brake dust is removed easier, however it does not magically repel brake dust!
Seems like some testimonials were exaggerated!

Sometimes I can just spray it off with a hose, but if I dont clean the wheels for a week, then I am hunkered down spongin the wheels just like you!

I guess one good way to not worry about it is to either:

Waxing your wheels will help dust wash off easier but I dont think there is a product that will repel brake dust.

Actually, there are two things that you can use on your wheels. One is Wheel Wax, which I have not used, but it is available online. The other is RainX wheel protectant, available at Autozone. I did buy some of this with decent results. Really haven't used it properly yet, the RainX requires some time to dry on the wheels. It does make brake dust easier to remove though. Just got it, so don't have much experience, but I will continue to use it maybe just on the front wheels cause they are the worse for my car.

Just glad its not the caliper sticking.
I'll pressure wash them in rinse every so often. no biggie. maybe ceramic pads might help

Wow, you bumped a dead thread that's older than some of the new members.
