Default Help - Stripped the bolts and the holes of the strut bar

I was installing my AEM dual intakes this weekend. When i went to put the strut bar back in, i stripped the bolts and the holes on the drivers side really badly. Now, i went out and got the right size/thread bolts and the same size thread tap but im really scared tol go back and re tap the threads. What do you think i should do?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I applaud you for workin on your own car but...

You can drive normal without the strut bar. To fix (from memory, I am not near my car) the holes could be rethreaded and a new bolt may be used.

You were not, by any chance, near the street racin plow down were you?

I saw it online on Foxnews.

Anyway I believe the strut bar bolts are threaded into the towers but do not effect the mount of the strut itself so you wont damage anything driving it around. G35s don’t come with em. Take it to a local shop to clean the hole up and try to thread the bolt in before remounting the bar.

Did you release the pressure off the bar by loosing the nut and bolt towards the passenger side of the bar before removing it? If you reinstall it without doing that, you are surly going to cross thread the bolt.

TAp/die the bolts and get new nuts (for the strut bar, not your nuts) not really all that hard to do.

All this aggravation for AEM junk....

People dont De-stress the strut---But this is the rule for all bolts----start them at least 3 complete turns with your fingers, if you cant do that, find out why.

I understand and I realize it is frustrating--- and sometimes it helps to voice those frustations rather than searching for the answers. But on the other hand it is frustrating to rehash the Rethread,Heli Coil, dont go oversize, de stress your strut, so often ---I hope you get it and if you riun into a prob just PM me
