I don't know if anyone of you are following my HKS GT Supercharger thread in the FI section but I had a meeting with Rick Lafferty, President of HKS USA. During the span of the meeting, Rick let me test drive his personal G35 coupe which was equipped with the new GT Supercharger kit as well as the new Hipermax III. When HKS took the marketing approach of this coilover as, "Series Concept: Designed and tuned for street application / daily driving", they weren't kidding. I was amazed how comfortable this coilover was but yet just stiff enough to still be able to have responsive handling. Granted, I didn't get to test this on the track but purely on the street; this is by far, the nicest coilover ride I have felt in a very long time. Once I have these swapped to my Z, I'll post another review putting these coilovers to the test.

I have the Function Xs on my demo Z and there is a drastic difference between these two coilovers. The Hipermax III was developed with the main focus in mind of daily driving. The Hipermax III is definitely a lot better suited for daily driving purposes but still handles REALLY well. The ZEAL Function Xs definitely offers more as a coilover from a competitive aspect but not nearly as cmfortable as the Hipermax III. Both of these coilovers are awesome, the end-user just needs to determine what their expectations are out of a coilover. The Hipermax III Sport would be more comparable to the ZEAL Function Xs.

 

How do these compare to your KW Variant III? I think this is a better comparisn.

Do these come with pillow ball mounts or hard rubber mounts?
