Default install problem: rear strut bolt/nut

so i was installing some coilovers (i got used) today on the z and when i got to the rear struts i discovered that the nuts were part of the OEM strut, so i couldnt install the new struts because there was not nut to secure the bolt.

is there supposed to be a nut that comes with the coilover system to secure that bolt? if nto where can i get a but that fits the bolt?

You're talking about the bottom of the rear shocks where the nut is already intregrated onto the shock right? Which coilover system did you get? The seller probably didn't give you the correct nut that caem with the coilovers. You can probably just bring the oem bolt to a hardware store and find the correct nut that you need.

when i installed my JIC's, the stock bolt was too short. there would only be two or three threads that would engage on the nut. this of course is unacceptable. you could buy a longer bolt, but make sure you get either grade 8 or above nut/bolt (if using SAE) or 10.9 (head stud, metric) bolts along with a type C locking nut (which matches the hardness of the 10.9 bolt). don't buy any grade less.

I totally agree with your steel grades... I wouldnt go any lower either...

OP: The OEM bolts for the front are longer than the rears... They are special order and the cost a little bit more... This might be an option...

the OEM front bolt has a nut. the part number for the bolt is 56127N and the nut is 54060B per courtesynissanparts.com.
