Default Wow, Who needs brakes...

Brought the car into the dealership 2 days ago for some weird sounds coming from the rear suspension area. (350z Vert GT w/ Brembos)

Got a call today from the service advisor, and this is what i was quoted.

Front/Rear Rotors and Pads needs to be replaced.

Rotors - he basically said nissan uses rotors that are soft, thats why they recommend replacing them (i think its BS, but what do i know)

Pad are all worn and needs to be replaced, all four, same with the rotors.

Price: front/rear rotors $560/each x 4 = $2240
front pads $224 each x 2 = $448
rear pads $233 each x 2 = $466
total w/ labor est.. $3,700

Is this right? anyone have any suggestions what to do? i should just go somewhere else and get the pads replaced only.

anyone have this issue? need some help please

Uhh no... NO!

Buy the Stoptech Stage 2 upgrade for about $850 shipped and pay someone $100 to install it. You can almost buy a BBK kit for that much money!

do it yourself.

if you can't then ask your friends.

if you have no friends then make some friends at some "tuner" meets.

wow thats a rip off, I went to Chronic Nissan in griffin and they did all 4 brakes and rotors for just over $500.

I'd call nissan tell them what that ********** is charging, that is a ripoff

That price is more than some transmission jobs, ****, Hell i just bought a BBK for 1250 for the fronts! Brakes are supposted to wear out, this guy is clearly trying to **** you over

My way to spend 3700. Order StopTech 6POT Fronts, and StopTech Stage Two upgrade. Offer Stoptech Stage Two Front portion to someone for labor to do the installation.

Where in CA are you?
Brakes are a piece of cake to do.

Get a case of beer and plenty of folks would be willing to help I'm sure.

its funny, cause the guy helping me told me i might be better off getting aftermarket brakes, but you can hear the manager in the back ground saying "its better if you stay with Nissan parts, they are from Brembo"

I should have asked if i got a complimentary reach-around for 3k
