Exclamation Has anyone put spacers under the m-brace?

Has anyone put spacers under the m-brace & if so what kind (and where did you get them from) did you get? My new midpipe is hitting the m-brace and I would like to gain additional (@.5"-1") clearence. Thanks.

I tried searching but I could not find anything .

Once again, here's the remedy for the sagging mid pipe on Turbo XS exhaust.

1. Discard the springs and associated bolts used to attach the mid pipe to the y pipe.

2. Find nuts, bolts, and lock washers to use in place of discarded pieces.

3. While under the car, push up on the mid to y connection as hard as you can, place a socket (yes, a socket that you use with a ratchet) between the pipe and the 'm' brace. While the socket provides the clearance, use the new bolts and lock washers to fasten the y to the mid and really crank down on them. Put some grunt behind it.

4. Now that everything is tight, use your ratchet to tap the socket out from between the mid pipe and the M brace. Now you have a good amount of clearance.

I did this when I installed my exhaust about 4 months ago and I still have plenty of clearance with no rattles or buzzing from the mid pipe contacting the M brace.

I've got a FI Intimidator catback and had to use some washers to space the M-brace. I just used a few 1/2" flat washers, nothing special. Just use as many as you need to get more clearance. The downside is you end up losing a little bit of ground clearance.

My friend has a TurboXS catback and we tried the method above, written by 68stang, minus the new nuts/bolts. It didn't work that well. The springs are probably the culprit.

Yeah, new bolts are key to making that trick work. You also gotta make sure you really crank down on them too.
