S2000 like suspension?
I'm curious to know what mods I could do to better the suspension so it would feel like my S2k that I had. I had the early model s2k btw and not the '04 or newer with the softer ride.
I didn't mind the handling at all and when I got my 350 if felt heavy at first and I was uncomfortable traveling fast in the corners. I can feel the body roll and was unsure that if I pushed it more it would break loose.
Having own the 350 now for 6 months, I can push the car harder than I did when I first bought the car, but I still feel the roll into corners.
Would swaybars be a good decision or should I go with coilovers and swaybar?
Any suggestions would be great.
I just mainly drive it on the street but may eventually when I get some time go to the autox track every once in a while to join some friends.
Thanks

It's never going to feel like the S2K. There's nothing you can do to make it feel like that. Sways and Coils will make it feel a lot flatter in the corners though. I think it's a worthy investment.
if your biggest complaint is body roll, your first mod should be swaybars
you also might want to look into a lowering spring with an increased rate vs stock, which will lower the cars cg, and also assist in reducing the side to side "roll". Or, if your budget and needs can handle it, a proper set of coilovers, coupled with the swaybars

Want to make it feel like an s2k? Sway bars and weight removal. You can easily remove close to 100lbs from our cars with a minimal investment and very little loss in daily driveability.
So I don't mind buying a decent set of coilovers and sways. Which all the companies out what would be the prefered brand? I was doing some searching and there is just way too much info for brands.
I'm familiar with the populars such as Tein, Jic, Moton, etc. What would be the ideal? I know that with Tein's EDFC that I can change the damping inside the car whereas the others don't provide that.
And for sways i found everyone recommended hotchs... any other preferred brands?
Thanks for the info guys.

Step 2 - Do more "SEARCH" . . . plenty of information already in the forum regarding suspension setups, to include visiting the vendor suspension classifieds section. And don't forget the autocross section either.

Also I'm getting a widebody which will require me to get 11" fronts and 13" back rubbers.
So it Tein worth the money since they seem to be a little higher than other brands? I always loved the edfc...lol

The edfc offers the convenience factory, but I find it a bit gimmicky - all personal preference though.
The Cusco Zero 2, which is what I'd personally recommend given your needs/wants blows the std. Flex away in terms of adjustability (much bigger valving span of meaningful adjustments), noise, and civility, yet comes in significantly less expensive. A set of those, coupled with some swaybars, and a front/rear camber kit would be a great setup, cost effective, and completely transform the handling of the car

Your car will never feel like an S2k due to its weight. The only thing you can do is remove weight and suspension
i had an S2k before the Z as well and miss the more go kartish feel. after driving the nismo for 8 months, i'm pretty sure it would do most corners as quickly as the S. it doesn't have the flick of the wrist direction change, but it will take corners at least as quickly. you just have to be more careful putting the Z in the corner.
not to threadjack, but would the simple cusco/swaybar/camber kit bring improvement to a nismo?

Yes the Z is heavier, but I can still creep away from my buddies in their S2K's on track. My '03 track model has stock suspension as do my friends S2K's. Don't be hasty and assume that just because the Z is heavier and less twitchy that it doesn't perform. IMO you should get some seat time at a few DE's before you start spending money on an already capable suspension.
I will add though that adjustable suspension arms are the first thing you should do. A proper alignment will change your handling noticeably.
Just my $.02 =]

I've driven my Z, and both AP1 and AP2 S2Ks.
All very nice cars. My Z handles very similarly to an AP1 S2K -- except that when the back end comes out, it is pretty easy to control for me. But then again, my idea of "twitchy" is a formula car on cold slicks...

FIRST, spend some time understanding the mathematics and design of suspensions.
Come to realization that tires and weight on them are 80% of handling equation and suspensions represent 15-20% at most of remainder. It is really difficult to improve things by even 4%. No matter how abusive and stiff you make the ride!
Don't let body roll confuse you, as it has little effect on tires. Body roll is just an indicator of weight transfer. You can slow or speed it up [springs and shocks, and sway bars] but you cannot change it, without changing body weight!
