Default What are your thoughts an Infiniti BBK on a 350z

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to get some opinions before I bite the bullet. I'm considering getting the Infiniti BBK for G37S for my 06 Silver Alloy 350z. I think it will look nice but I don't know if rocking infiniti brakes on a Z = huge poser. What do you guys think?

Here are some pics.

My Car;

The BBK in question:

How are they compared price wise to say Rotora or Endless, Project Mu? I think something else would be a better choice but I am all for doing whatever floats your boat, after all its your car

If it were me, I'd either swap to the 350Z gold caliper Brembo's or get a aftermarket BBK (Stoptech, Project MU, etc.). I personally would not put Infiniti parts on my Z. That's just me though.

For that price, I think I'd be pretty tempted also. I'd have to dump the Infiniti badge though and maybe slap on a Nissan or 350z logo. With a silver car, I think they'd look good with no badge at all.

For $500 more you can get 6 piston wilwood fronts with 2 piece rotors and 4 piston 2 piece rears, with a lot better pad selection.

Go with Brembos.

I bought:

OEM BremboCalipers F+R BRAND NEW $1274
Powerslot Rotors $660
Project Mu B-Force F+R $204
Project Mu Inner Sports Shoes $180
Stoptech SS lines $140
ATE Super Blue $10/L
Motive Pressure Bleeder $60

End price: $2544

You could get a BRAND NEW full Brembo set-up for around $1600-$1700, I just went a little overboard on pads & rotors. You don't NEED the bleeder & you can get brake fluid for cheaper than $10 a litre.

Thats $800-$900 difference between the two kits......

I am likely going to put on the G37 rear BBK to compliment my Brembo GT in the front.
I do admit, I am doing it mainly for aesthetics purpose, as the braking behavior of my car is adequate. However, that wimpy caliper is getting on my nerves, so does the rust on the brake disc where the pad is not in contact. Plus, just to make the matters worse, in a flash of creativity, I painted the rear non-Brembo calipers red ( ).

These G37 calpers will be color matched to the front Brembo GT in red. The only catch to this, no Nissan logo for me, and ESPECIALLY no Brembo decals.

My 0.02$

you do knoow that infiniti parts are technically nissan ones right? plus, those calipers are made by akebono. and why downgrade to a brembo brake system? just because the name brembo is on them does not make them better

Yes I know that, but that's like putting Lexus parts on a Toyota which looks retarded if you ask me. Also, the Brembo's would not be a "downgrade" for him seeing as how he's running the factory brakes. Instead of bashing on my personal opinion which is clearly what it was, why don't you form your own opinion.

explain how it's covered under a warranty if it didn't come on the car in the first place, nor was intended for the car it's going on

it's also heavy as hell....but, a nice setup for sure that looks good. You might also want to look into the potential brake bias issues, as I would not be surprised if the G37 uses a totally different master cylinder, piston diameter, etc vs the Z

^ According to Riverside Infiniti they will warranty it if there is any issues. I suppose you must buy it from them as well. There is no need to swap out your Master cylinder or booster on these.

well you never "need" to swap your master or booster with any BBK....doesn't mean that it was designed with the master and booster from your car in order to operate as its intended. With something as critical as brakes, it's worth heavily researching, and doing the math so you know for sure, vs guessing

Whats your reason for getting a BBK? If it's looks, thensure, that Infiniti BBK looks really nice, go for it.

However, if you reason is performance (specifically track performance), I would do a bit of reasearch and find out what BBK are specifically designed for the Z/G, and has the right front to rear bias, just like Z1 mentioned.

Personally, I would go with StopTechs, but I'm somewhat biased as those are what I run and they work great at the track.

Honestly, with so many people running such different BBK setups, like same size rotors/same size calipers vs. bigger in the front/smaller in the back, I really don't see it not working. Especially considering that it's fully compatible with the hydraulics, evident from the previously done swaps...

Anyway, I am confident enough with this swap and within the next few weeks I will post a review of 13" Brembo GT(f)/OEM G37(r)
