When I was installing my grounding kit today, I noticed that the stock struct bar on the front was not tightened either way. Now I have very little knowledge on how they work. But I would think tighten it would increase the rigidity of the frame right?

So, If I was to tighten it, should I tighten it by pushing against the two strut towers or should I bring them close together?

To explain what i mean, better:

If you "push", strut bar gets longer, and leaving more room from it to the engine as well, and vice versa if you "pull".

While looking at the bar from the front you want to rotate the center nut "towards" you 1.7 turns. Make a mark on the nut first so you can follow how much you turn it. I believe this "pushes" the bar wider.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it was my underatanding that the front strut was more or less a show piece that Nissan engineers threw on the car for looks rather than serving a structural purpose.

It really does serve a purpose. There is definate tension on teh brace. When the dealer fixed my oil leak the tightened the brace in the wrong direction. They pulled in
instead of pushing it out.

Alright sent you another PM. I know with my other cars you push them out. So at least I got that part right. But isn't the tighter the better? (To a certain degree of course!)
