Unhappy Car doesn't feel right after hotchkis sway install

I installed my hotchkis sways yesterday and the car does not feel right at all. It is very twitchy is the only way I can discribe it, esp at over 100mph. It feels like that in a straight line or going round a bend. I have tein flex coilovers.

When I installed them I removed the end links from the car as I couldn't get the sways of them fitted to the car.

What could be wrong?

i would start with making sure everything is torqued down correctly and check your alignment.

ok, so maybe dumb question, but you said you removed the end links to "fit" them(i'm assuming to install them is what you mean). Please tell me you re-installed the endlinks?

I would start with posting what setting (holes) you set the bars on.

I started off with the same settings as you (middle for the rear, second softest for the front) and the car felt alright. Make sure everythings secure. Earlier today I changed the rear bar to the stiffest setting and I'm not sure that I like it too much, I think I'm going to change it back to the middle, either that or up the stiffness of the front bar one setting.

yea I did reinstall the end links. I removed the brackets that held the end links onto the car so could get a breaker bar onto the sway bolts then put the end links straight back on.

I'm sure my tracking is not right from the tire wear but the car felt fine before I installed the sways.

The car does feel pretty bad, almost makes me not want to drive it.

Could I have fitted something wrong? Could I have got the torque wrong and make it this bad?

Everything may be installed fine. What you are experiencing sounds like a very "loose" or over-steering car.

Your settings suggest this. You are +125% stiffer in the rear and only +48% in the front.

Remember the basic formula is softer = more traction. You are getting significantly more grip out of your front tires than your rears.

Try taking a hard turn in a safe place (empty parking lot). Is your a$$ end coming around first?

Or as an experiment, set your fronts to there stiffest setting. If the problem goes away you found the problem.

At first I thought it was oversteer as I had my front coilovers softer at the front for some oversteer before the sways but I sorted that and softened up the back. There doesn't seem to be too much oversteer when I try and get the tail out as I do need to try and get it out for it to go.

I had the same problem with my Stillen Sways after installing D-Specs. It took a lot of experimenting with damping rates to get my suspension dialed in.

Default This...

is a good read for me considering my Nismo S-tune is going on with my Hot sways next week.

I am leaning to middle rear and full stiffness up front.

Damn, I wish I had them with me to play with but I am at the cottage.

Agree. You modified the suspension so the car handles different because it is different.

Think I'll try and move the front to the stiffest tonight and see how I get on with that.

Start off withfull soft rear and #2 hole up front. Then work your way up to what you like. Full stiff front will eat your endlinks in a couple weeks , sometimes days. Personally i run middle rear and hole 3 front, but i probably have a different drop , and different coilovers than your.

Sorted!!!!!!

I have now adjusted the rear to the softest and the front second from softest, my front coilovers at 5th from softest and the rear 2nd from softest and 30psi all round in the tyres with the std 18" rays, std front bridgestones and toyo proxy rears at std size.

Overall it is very natural with a very small amount of oversteer needing a little throttle to get the tail out and no twitchy feeling at speed.

Half a tank well spent testing it out lol
