Anyone know how much stiffer than stock the Nismo sway bars are?
I just did some research on this that was prompted by another member mentioning that hollow bars like the nismo, stillen, eibach and stock don't give up much stiffness for the sake of being hollow. This is true, but how much stiffness is dependent on how thick the hollow bars walls are, something we don't know. So how think are the walls of the 36mm front nismo bar? I find it rather ironic that the Nismo front bar weighs the same as the stock sway bar 10lbs. The Cusco front bar weighs 15lbs.
So the question remains, what's stiffer a 10lbs 36mm hollow bar with unknow wall thickness vs. a 35mm solid bar the weighs 15lbs that we know generates 37% greater stiffness.
The OEM torsional deflection rate on the front sway bar is 1100 lbs./ in
The OEM rear bar is 380 lbs/in
Cusco front bar at the stiffer setting would be at 1507lbs
Cusco rear bar would be 657lbs
The 350EVO front bar
soft 1010 lbs/in
Middle 1225 lbs/in (11% stiffer than oem)
stiff 1460 lbs/in (33% stiffer than oem)
The 350EVO rear is 23mm solid
Soft 370 lbs/in
middle 475 lbs/in (25% stiffer than oem)
stiff 580lbs/in (53% stiffer than oem)
