Question Model Year Question - Suspension

Hello,

I used to own a 2003 Z which had an incredibly harsh suspension. I don't mind firm, but this was jarring. I just test drove a 2008 model and the suspension is fantastic, firm, and very smooth. I am looking at used models from 2005 to 2008 but what I don't know is when the suspension was revised to the current format. I've searched all over this forum and the web and can only find reference to the fact that the front end was revised in 2004.5 to eliminate the tire feathering, and consumer reports started saying for the 2005 year that the suspension was very good.

Thanks for any help!

The suspension was revised sometime in 2004, hence 2004.5.
I do not what build dates the suspension was changed.
As for the changes, the 2004.5 has stiffer front sway bar (17%), I believe the thickness of the bar wall was increased. Rear bar is the same.

The revised sway bar, is 1% softer than the Nismo sway bar in the front, and 1% stiffer than the NISMO in the rear.

The shocks were revalved.
The front spring rates are the same on all z's 314 lbs.
The rear spring rates are 427 lbs, vs. the old spring rates of 342 lbs. for the rear.

03/04 unrevised rear springs have 2 red dots and one white dot or all red dots. (342lbs in rate)

04.5-06 revised rear springs have 2 red dots and one light purple dot. (427lbs in rate)

Great info! This is the model I'm looking at, http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ce=&cardist=46so I guess I'll have to look at the rear springs for the dots. Are those dots visible, or does the vehicle have to be on a lift with a wheel off to see them?
