Default Typical Price on Alignment

What's up guys,

Just installed my rear Camber arm and Toe Bolts supplied by Z1 (thanks). Went to a Alignment place my friend recommended but I swear I think I caught this guy in a bad mood. He actually told me anyone who does warranty on there alighment work is a gimmick. So as you can see I walked out of there.

What is a typical prices everyone is paying for an alighment. Also does alighment change based on wheel size? I currently have my stockers on, but I do have Summer wheels.

Looking for price range, and or if anyone knows a shop on Long Island they can recommend.

I'm not sure what kind of warranty you expect to get. They align your car. You leave and hit a pot hole and knock it out of alignment, you expect them to realign it under a warranty?

I pay $80 for a four wheel alignment. I can sit with the tech and tweak it within the adjustability of the stock setup. They'll do limited "out of the ordinary" stuff to get a car to the spec you want.

For the most part, alignment is independant of wheel size. Some people claim it does depend on wheels, but every expert I know tells me no.

I'd say it's about 50-70 at the most I've seen for a single alignment. But I just got the lifetime alignment from firestone for about 150$ and have been more then one time so I made my moneys worth already. They will let me align it to whatever specs I want them to.

we used to charge 50 bucks for a 4 wheel alignment...but that was 7 yrs ago...and in a small(er) town. at an honest shop....

Its honestly retarded how much some charge to align the Z...since only the toe is adjustable...kinda silly.

And warranty on alignment is a gimmick, way to steal your money IMO...unless your "smart" like oatmeal... (I'd never let the monkeys @ Firestone touch my car).

Alignments are a yearly maintenance procedure. preventative maintenance...though most don't treat it as so.

I paid $55 for my alignment after I installed the SPC camber/toe kit. They aligned it to my specs. I wouldn't expect a warranty on something you can so easily screw up by driving like an idiot.

we charge $189 for a 4-wheel.

alignment warranties lol

i hope you didn't give that guy any crap about the non-warranty.

wheel sizes don't really matter that much, but they do make a difference in some cases--most likely not yours.

What do you have against firestone? They let me watch them in the bay at them work on my car, and align it to whatever specs I want. Maybe you had bad experience with them but they never did me wrong.

Ok ok! So the warranty question was stupid I get it! But hear me out. I drive out of there my car starts shaking and it didn't before shouldn't that be covered? That's what I asked this guy who wanted to charge me 120! I'm glad I asked here on the boards cause I was just about to say FK it and bring it there.

I'm going to check with this place down the block. I would have preferred to be there so I can get it exactly how I wanted. (not sure yet how)

What is Stock OEM Alignment specs, and what is typical after a drop and camber arms in the rear?

Redbull,

Over here in GA there is a place called Kaufmann Tires, for lowered modified suspension they chage 99.00 and include a 12,000 mile. It is not a gimmick. They've always been good to me.

It doesn't hurt to ask people if they stand behind their work. It's understandable that things you do can misalign it but hey if they offer it why not?

EDIT:
I am dropped but only with koni shocks

Hope this helps,
JV

An alignment won't make the car shake, that's wheel balancing usually. The only ways you can know if your alignment sucks is if the car pulls to one side, has some strange handling (but that could be other things also), your tires wear out too fast or wear funny. Most of those things will take many miles to notice.

"MY" factory alignment was -.7 camber front, and -1.7 camber rear. I can't comment on toe because I never cared what factory was, I always specified what I wanted.

Beau is right. I forgot all about that. After I bought some rims for my previous car I found out that one of the tires were worn down more than the other and that a rim was also bent slighlty, thus providing **** drive quality. You won't notice the bent rim unless it's bent that badly but if you get it balanced the person doing it could tell you.

I usually do balance and alignments at the same time just to be safe and keep myself aware.

I hope you get your problem resolved, I hate the shaking steering wheel of death after I pay $70+ bones.

So what are specs you guys running?

Hmm the phantom drift of death. That was a serious problem I had that would never go away on my previous car. The only thing that fixed it were some new camber toes and a good alignment.

Stupid dealership tried telling me that it naturally goes to the right because of the way the road is curved and my tire pressure. Get that **** outta here.

But then again if you have a modified suspension maybe you just have a shitty alginment? I don't have my specs on me but i'll post em when I get home.

The crown in the road can cause it to pull to the low side of the road, but I'm sure that's not news to anybody here. Tech's have to respond to the average person's silly concerns all day everyday so sometimes they dismiss real problems as a silly customer.
