Default d2 coilovers

do the d2 rs coilovers have adjustable spring rates? on the descriptions is says 36 levels of dampening, height adjustment, and CUSTOM spring rate. i'm not sure if that means you can order a custom spring rate when you purchase them, or if you can adjust the spring rate yourself. is that possible?

As far as I know, spring rates are not adjustable. You can order custom spring rates if you need to, but the only things you can adjust are dampening and height. I could be wrong though

Either the person your trying to buy the coilovers from misunderstood you, or hes a straight up idiot.

i don't think that link answers my questions. I understand the difference between a linear and progressive spring rate, but i don't think you can ADJUST the spring rate to whichever you want.

There are better coilovers on the market that are around the same price.

It does you just have to read.....

You can't just "ADJUST" Spring Rates on the coilover. You would have to disassemble and replace the spring with a different rate.

You are correct, to change spring rates you have to swap out the spring. It's just a common misconception - mostly due to very poor marketing - that adjusting preload on the springs can change the spring rate. This is not true but many of these new "JDM" companies make a big deal out of being able to adjust preload that it confuses people, both buyers and sellers.

BTW, adjusting preload doesn't do anything unless it is greater than the corner weight of the car in case you were wondering.
