Default **Rattle Coming From Passenger Front Wheel Area When Suspension Moves**

Every time the passenger side of my Z goes over a slight bump, or "pothole" in the road, I hear what sounds like a loose bolt, or washer that just rattles on some other metal component. I only hear it coming from the front passenger wheel area.

All I have done to my suspension/wheels are Eibach Sportlines paired with the stock shocks, as well as Volk TE37 TA's... I know it isn't recommended to run that low of a drop on the stock shocks, but i'm saving up for either Coils or D-Specs as we speak.

Do you think the shock could possibly be blown, or is something actually loose??

I have no idea where or how I should go about checking what the cause is...

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the info. Any idea on how I can check if that's the case?

Check your endlinks, i've seen them come loose before and cause a rattle.

I'd like to know also. I have an annoying rattle coming from somewhere up front. I've taken my end links off and they don't have any noticable play in them. Running Hotchkis bars with the McMaster collars.

I've grabbed each tire while it was up in the air and tried to see if there was any play but nothing. Also took a crowbar and tried to see if there was any play in the compression rod, control arm or tie rod ball joints but didn't notice anything.

I'm running Konis and have made sure the top nut was secure and put a wrench to all the suspension pieces.

check your bushings , they can cause a rattle going over bumps if damaged .
I gotta change mine out soon when I do my ball joints.

I know my compression bushings are torn slightly and groan over speed bumps etc.. could that be a cause of the rattle?

maybe, I was told by the dealership that that was the only issue with my suspension . I'm changing by balljoints just to be safe and have whiteline bushings coming in. But I have noticed that the jarring has gotten progressively worse . 90-100 bucks is not bad for a good fix.

That TSB is meaningless for current cars. The most likely cause of your problem is something not being tight enough. That would be the first thing to check.

I had a rattle like that. I was expecting it to go away after I disassembled most of the front suspension and reassembled for a spring install. It was still there. I found it while poking around under the hood. My washer fluid reservoir had come loose. I just reattached it when one of those black plastic push rivets that hold together most of our car, lol. Rattle was gone.

Damnit OP, you ever find out what this was!?

Im getting the same rattle after a spring install.

We forgot to tighten the upper shock nut after install on pass side, made a rattle when driving. Went home asap, tighten nut until it free turned, then drove it again.

Now im getting a rattle from that same side, not sure what it is. Endlink was my first guess, but up in the air it looks tight on there. Cant figure out what the hell this rattle is!

I'd put it up on a lift and pull the front wheels. Double check all the upper and lower arm bolts.

Does the rattle have a metalic or plastic ring to it?

Im 95% sure its the passenger side sway bar endlink at the lower arm.

Although it seems tight, there is absolutely nothing else it could be. Upper perch/spring is seated fine (so are 3 perch nuts), lower perch fine, 2 mid-sway bar supports tight, lower shock bolt/nut tight, bushings fine, etc.

I think to tighten properly, im gonna have to level front evenly to find neutral point in the sway bar. Of course, ive also read all the complaints about that lower endlink nut backing off by itself once removed.

Its gotto be the endlink.

Also experiencing this issue. Just got my 04' 350 a week ago. It's been very cold in NY and I initially associated the slight and very quiet rattle to a colder frame, where the convertible roof meets with the top of the windshield. The noise seems to be coming from that area, or perhaps the passenger side part of the dash - then again, it could be coming from the outside / engine bay. It's very quiet and only happens sometimes when I'm going over bumps in the road. It is also noticeable when I really get on it, like 5K+ rpms. This will cause the rattle to become more noticeable. Has anyone figure this out? I'm going to go home and check my endlinks
