Default Rookie Lowering..

Okay. I've been driving the Z for a while now completely stock suspension. I am thinking about doing a lowering kit, and shocks/struts. I dont want to have to mess with camber. I would also like to do this myself with no lift. I am mechanically inclined and have access to all hand tools. What would you guys reccomend. Im on stock rims. Just want to look a little better. No drifting or track time. Just street.

All opinions are welcomed.

Thanks

Here's what I did: I bought a set of springs from Eibach called the Pro-kit. They will give you slightly less than an inch of drop, You'll likely not have to mess with camber, etc.

There are other ways to go, though.

Bro if you are not mechanically inclined then don't do this yourself. I did the spring swap on stock shocks to my Honda Del Sol no problem but I bought some KW Variant 3 coilovers for my 08' 350Z and about half way through the front driver side I quit. You are going to have to compress the spring, take the hat off the stock strut, then switch the springs, then compress the new ones, put the hat on the strut back on. You might as well get a whole coilover because it will be easier haha.

I ended up paying a shop to do the install for 300 bucks and it came out great.

I installed my Tanabe GF210s myself and it wasn't that bad. The worst part by far is compressing the front springs, I have an impact wrench which made it easer...but damn, it was a *****!

Most will say if you drop over an inch you will need camber adjustment also.

OEM shocks/struts will wear out faster than on stock springs

Search and you will find more on lowering than you ever care to read.

Even with the 'mild' drop you're talking about you may have camber issues. Please get a full alignment at a reputable Z shop after to see where you are. Hope that with the stock stuff you can fix your alignment if needed. I did a 'mild' drop and needed adjustable frt A-arms to get the car right. If tire wear is not a issue - then ignore the above!
