I'd say 3 or 4 hours is more likely. However, if we're not experienced with the 350z, five hours doesn't sound completely unreasonable. Yes, the rear springs can be swapped in quickly. However, the fronts can give you problems. Also, the fronts require you to disassemble and reassemble each unit.

Shops aren't out there to set world records.

i can assure you the guy doing the install can do it just as fast(or faster) than most on here, but that makes no difference in the price at all.
maybe you are missing the point .. if I take my car for a simple job and already know what it entails, and how long it should take with proper tools/education, I expect the shop to be as close to that point in labor as possible. if they need to book extra time 'just in case' that's their own damn fault and I'd go elsewhere :P

mitchell online labor guide shows 2.6 for both front and 2.1 for both rear and that does not include alignment. that's a little high so i'm sure you can always find a regular suspension place to charge a little less. then take to nissan dealer for the 59 or 69 dollar alignment. maybe more if they need additional hardware though.

the book time is there for a reason and if you find a shop that will sell the job for how much the customer thinks it should take then just stick with them.

how successful in the past have you been in negotiating a labor time?

There is no way on god's green earth the book time for springs is 5 hours...there is NO WAY.
apparently according to mitchell its 4.7

if you guys don't like paying BOOK labor times for mods then learn to do it yourself or find a guy that does side jobs.

I didnt do it myself nor did i find a guy who does "side jobs". i went to a tuner shop and paid $100. Done. Worth every penny.

So unless he charges $20/hour labor rate, i seriously doubt most shops would go by a 5 hour book rate....but ok Mitchell says its so, so it must be so...

The highest ive ever been quoted on spring install is 175.00...btw. So ya.

Most people expect a spring install to be cheaper. However, it's more work than a coilover install.

$100? Was the owner of that shop facing foreclosure?

I just installed my springs and camber kit today. started at 10:30 got done around 5:00. With the help of a friend. My knees are killing me lol. Not that bad of a job really. My car is walking all over the road and I have a popping noise on the drivers side front when I turn the wheels or hit a bump. I think I didn't tighten the top nut on the strut enough. I'll tear it down tomorrow and try again, then off to the alignment shop Monday. You should do it yourself and save a few hundred for some more mods

Good job. Tear it down tomorrow, try again and add up the total time and let us know. That would help

I got mine knocked out in about 3-4 hours. A member on here helped me (matavis) Dod it in his garage.

Then again we had a impact to compress the springs.

No man, it was a rep. tuner shop here in Houston...others in Htown on this forum have used them as well. Its a young guy that loves working on imports (specializes in 350z/G35) and charges rates how they SHOULD be. A spring install is by no means hard, AT ALL, for a shop with a lift and compressor. not a beaner shop by any means.. just a small shop trying to bring in more business.

If your not retarded its not hard to find a shop that will do it cheap, usually small shops will to try and give you great price so you come back...thats it.

so shop around and call other shops.

I've been calling around all over the Spring (N.Houston) area. Been quoted prices between $220 - 520 for installing Eibach Pro Kit. + alignment charge.

Ya, i havent gotten alignment yet, cause your supposed to wait for springs to settle before you get it aligned. So it was just 100 for install. Alignment should only be no more than 100, so either way FYI.

Also, your only looking in Spring, there is your prob. I live on West side not too far from downtown. If you want good prices and more shops to chose from your gonna have to get outside spring and look around closer to downtown. 220 is a great price if they include alignment, go with that.

Drive to CT. 120 for spring installs and less than 2 hours.
