Default Slammed Cars

I was about to instal some coilovers and was wondering is anyone out there which is lowered pretty low so that their front bumper scraps while driving. I am not implying that they are constantly scraping, just saying that when they are drivijng and if the road is bumpy they scrap. I hvae checked out some of the threads and i have seen some pretty low cars but I am not going for show only, i would like performance. I dont see the point in lowering the car so much that you cant go past 70mph on the freeway in case there is a bump. Can some of you please share your input? Also what should i do if i want to go low and it does scrap time to time like i mentioned.

thanks

Mine does and that is why I had to get a new front bumper b/c my front lip has been mashed to **** on these wonderful Houston highway roads....FML, I've got some rolling shots in my albums you can look at to see how "low" I am....I'm not dumpt but it's low enough that it scrapes frequently. I don't have issues going over 70mph just crank the damper adjustment as stiff as itll go

Yes, people have cars that scrape and either they deal with it and replace/repaint whatever gets scraped up every so often or they raise the car back up.

i have more of a problem with speed bumps. My control arms sometimes and frame sometimes bottem out. I dont have a lip or body kit so my actual body pieces are usually clear. Handles like a champ though.....

HKS lowering coilovers.

I do have to avoid the smallest road kill at all cost. i have acumalated fur on my rear differencial before.

what difference does it make if it scrapes the botton. Why would they wanna get it repainted?

Slamming your car looks sick but is pointless. It's more headache than it's worth...constantly scanning the road, speed bumps, missing catalytic converters, etc.

If you scrape your front bumper/lip enough times it will eventually break or look like crap. Those who care enough about their vehicle's appearance will do their best to repair/replace/repaint any damaged pieces.

soon to be lowered, but I dont think I can functionally go low as Mr. CF, although his ride looks bad a$$. California roads specifically San Diego roads can lick my left ball with the amount of bumps there are. I guess thats one good thing about coilovers. You can raise it if youre tired of scraping, and still have a tight suspension. Any opinions on that?

Main thing is knowing your roads/highways. Funny when you're slammed you'll know exactly what roads, highways, lanes, to take and what not to take. You'll know exactly where every little tiny bump, dip is.. You'll even know when it'll hit.

Gotta make sacrifices if you want the slammed look.

LOL yes you said it perfectly! I've been driving slammed cars for the past 5 years now in my area and I know EVERYWHERE there is a bump, and everytime I hit one I am like damnit I knew that was there lol. You gotta do what you gotta do if you want the look. Pain in the *** but it's killer. And I don't have a body kit so my actual frame is that much closer to the ground.

How low of a drop is considered "slammed"?

Great. My car's currently in the shop getting a full 1.5" drop all the way around, I'm running 19's. I'm just "praying" that when I put my HKS on with the bumper tuck that I won't tear 'em up.

^^ holy crap wtf man LOL

I am assuming you dont have many steep driveways or even a bit steep cuz ud get ****ed.

thats too low for me if the tire is not showing then its kidna overplayed in my opinion.

BTW what happens if you are going up a steep driveway and your car gets stuck at the peak. It wont rol back or move foward /
