Default Nismo Z spring rates revealed

Since the subject might be of interest to regular Z owners, I'm posting the link in the suspension section here.

Tokico HP,.......NO
KYB GR2,.........NO
ANY oem shock other then Nismo Z,.........NO
OTS Koni Yellows,......NO (though the front's should be ok, not the rears)
Bilstein H.D.,.............NO

TcKline DA,.........Yes (valved for T2 springs 616/672, but you get extreamly high hystersis levels or internal pressure imbalances, not fond of how they are valved overall anyhow and the adjustors have a poor dynamic range which isn't so much of a issue when the car is single purpose car. And the front's would likely need to be revalved)

Truechoice Phase III,.......Yes (Some hysteresis issues, adjustor's have a poor dynamic range, which isn't so much of a issue for a single purpose car, rears would have to be revalved.)

Koni yellows revalved,........Yes. (Hysteresis is a issue, poor adjustor dynamic range which is not so much of a issue for a single purpose car. Get good about communicating what you want in the revalved end product, remember the adjustor's are limited).

Bilstein H.D. revalved,..........Yes. IMO the best choice, and the cheapest in the end, revalving is only $65 per corner at bilstein USA. No you don't get adjustable damping. But you'd get lower hysteresis levels and no issues with the adjustors getting in the way, possibly preventing whoever is doing the valving from giving you what you want in the end.

Penske 8300 rebound adjustable shocks from Anze engineering,......Yes (by far the best, but we'll toss them out just as quickly at $2600, price does include revalving to your specs)

Are the Nismo Z's springs comparable to the S-tune's?

If not, where would one get Nismo Z springs? If none are on ebay would we have to go to Nissan parts directly?

Linear fronts and Progressive rears??

I am suprised by this, what do you think is the reason is for this not to be the other way around, or at least a little more stiff in the front like the T2's?

Does it have anything to do with the 18/19 wheel combo?

Thanks for the info G, very interesting.

The S-tune springs drop the Z .6", Nismo Z springs don't. The S-tune front springs are slightly progressive (maybe one coil so even mentioning is debateable).

Unless your willing to revalve Koni yellows or Bilstein HD's, paying dealer prices for Nismo Z springs is pointless.

I can only guess it's their most cost effective compromise to get around endowing the car with a LSD that actually works.
