Default Does anyone have 88 rotors?

Ok, I already tried the search, and really didn't come up with anything... I want to know who on here has or had 88 rotors and their honest oppinion on them as I will give mine...

So I needed to replace my pads and rotors and I read some posts on here that 88 rotors were a good alternative to OEM and that they are under the same parent company as Stoptech and other brake comanies... So I ordered a full set front and rear also with brake pads... The brake pads they sent with the rotors were a brand called "Verto" and they are very very noisy when coming to complete stop (anybody heard of this brand?) But other than the loud noise they feel just as good as the OEM brakes...

One of the problems I did have with this company was the shipping... I ordered the set and payed by phone and didn't recieve them until like three weeks later...(They are located in L.A. and I live in San Diego which is two hours away)... I understand a week, but three is just too much... Not to mention that communication with them SUCKED!!!("We'll call you back" and never get a call!!!)

Well, my whole point to this thread is that I just wanted to do a kind of customer review on this company and their products and maybe help out someone who is thinking of buying products from this company...

Anyone want to chime in on their experience with 88 rotors? Please do!

Did they send you the "Verto" pads?... I looked them up and it seems that they are made in china...

As far as the dust goes, I think OEM makes more...

So 04zee how long did you keep those for?

After swapping pads, did the noise and dust go away?

I bought my slotted rotors from travis as 88rotors via a groupdeal over at zilvia.net which is a drift community. I remember the shipping being really quick! It's been almost a full year and I'm happy with my setup. I opted for Axxis ULT pads which they offered to me. I combined them with SS lines from another vendor (even cheaper on ebay) and some local valvoline fluid and did it all on the cheap. Good stuff! Bites hard initially and works well in the cold rain like today. Spraypaint the entire rotor and you won't end up with rotorhat rust. Afterall, these are very inexpensive rotors but work awesome. Good luck!

Yea travis sold me the set as well... They are a pretty good Product for the price... But another thing is that they are noisy as hell... But I hope that the shipping mishap was only a one time thing because I would like to get these rotors again when I need them... And thats the whole reason I started this thread was to learn about other peoples experience with 88 rotors and to inform future potential customers of theirs...

Thanks for the replies guys!!!!

Anyone else want to chime in?

Noisy as in the pads squealing or the slotted rotors making sound during hard braking? If it's the pads making noise why not try going back underneath and thoroughly re-greasing everything? Couldn't hurt. I have no squeals whatsoever, but then again I have the Axxis pads.

Yea I re-greased all 4 corners... It's the pads... It only happens when for example slowing down to a stop light... It's just pretty annoying... I might just switch pads...

You won't be disappointed in Axxis ULT. I have those pads in everything I drive. A worthy substitute would be Wagner Thermoquiet pads if they are available for your application. I put those in my fiance's ES330 along with Wagner economy rotors (again painted black) and they're just about like oem in initial bite, with no visible dust. I took a gamble on that one lol.

So in addition I ran up on a post on G35driver about someone who also had Verto pads. He said he took it back to his mechanic and they discovered the pads' backing plates had come unglued causing pad vibration and noise. Either remove the shims and line the backs with CRC disc brake quiet or change them entirely with something better! http://g35driver.com/forums/brakes-s...cs-inside.html post #14.

I ordered crossed and drilled rotors with their pads. Customer Service is ok. Item is ok quality so far. I track the car and it hold up nicely. Fair enough for the price I paid

Yea I took off the pads today and guess what? The shims were off of the pads and it seems that the pistons bent them outta shape!!! I know I installed them correctly and I greased the hell out of them... Well ima switch pads like 04zee and see what happens from there... Since they advertise that you get Axxis pads w/ package and i got Verto instead, do i have a right to call them and complain? lol...

Sorry, for some reason I didn't receive an email notification of your reply. Heck yes I would complain that they should have given you Axxis pads as advertised. However, you already used yours so returning them might not be an option anymore. The only reason I went with them is because they were offereing Axxis pads for cheap in the first place. But lesson learned. Pads make a huge difference in braking setup! Good luck. Call them and let us know what they say. I mean, the pads are obviously defective! Get Axxis/PBR ULT as a replacement!
