Default hotchkis sway bar setting questions...

Hello my350z, I'm installing hotchkis sway bars on my 04 track edition z and I was wondering which settings I should be using for stock suspension?

There's an exotics rally that I will be attending Sunday and there will be lots of nice corning to do on this endurance race/trip.

My set up as follows:
stock 04.5 suspension
19x9.5 255/35/19
19x10.5 285/35/19
hotchkis sways
spl endlinks

The specs of the sway bars as follows:

350Z & 03- 05 G35 Front
Hole 1 = 1525 lbs/in (22% Stiffer than stock)
Hole 2 = 1845 lbs/in (48% Stiffer than stock)
Hole 3 = 2270 lbs/in (82% Stiffer than stock)
Hole 4 = 2855 lbs/in (129% Stiffer than stock)

Rear:
Hole 1 = 520 lbs/in (80% Stiffer than stock)
Hole 2 = 655 lbs/in (125% Stiffer than stock)
Hole 3 = 840 lbs/in (185% Stiffer than stock)

I don't know which hole on the sway bars to use..please let me know your thoughts of adjustment. I was thinking hole 2 for the front and hole 1 for the rear (from what I read so far)

thanks

Eric

I don't think there is any one "right" setting. I've seen people report them all over the place. Some of it depends on how you drive, what type of event you are driving in, what the track/road is like, etc.

I have to admit that your setup is virtually identical to mine. I have mine set on medium-stiff (3rd hole) up front and soft (1st hole) in the rear. That's based on street handling, it may change once I get it back on the track and have an opportunity to play with it some.

Ah ok. Thanks. Another question about the hole on the sway bar, is the 1st hole on the inner part of the sway bar? or is that the outter part of the sway bar? Thanks again.

The "1st" hole is the one nearest the end of the swaybar, it is the softest setting.

The bar twists - so the further out (away from the bar) you are the easier it is to twist - softer. So the first hole (softer) would be the furthest one out.

Rats! too slow.

great. thank you!

I should install my greddy type s coilovers as well but...its getting cold out here. I was planning to buy SPL front and rear camber arms but...is it necessary for a 1" drop? I'm reading all over the forums it's saying it varies on each car but thats for 1.25"-1.5" drop. I might wait it out till spring time for this install.

I suppose your sway bar settings would be ok for coilovers since I'm not really tracking the car.

Thanks for you help!

I was just double checking lol.

I bought the sways used...and I was searching all over the forum if the front sways come with new brackets? Looks like everyone reuses the stock ones? Even the website picture doesn't show new brackets for the front...only the rear.

Go with hole 1 front and rear to start.

I have the rears installed on the 1st hole. With the true dual exhaust...it was a pain to install. I'll do the front sways tmrw.

I'm actually missing a 1 bolt/nut on the front spl end link....the stock end links are so tiny compared to the spl's lol. I guess I'll install 1 spl end link and have 1 stock?

it varies for any car, regardless of height

Some cars are on the cusp of being out of spec even when they are not lowered. Some cars remain in spec once lowered. Only way to know is measure specs pre and post lowering.

You probably won't need front a-arms, but I'd get the rear ones with toe bolts. You'll probably be a good amount out of spec without those. Back when I had my springs they were 1.2" front, 1" rear, and they were out of spec bad in the rear but fine in the front.
