parking brake problem
i just got an 03 z about 6 months ago and noticed that its parking break was a little loose. the guy i got it from i would guess was almost 50 so i dont think he was doing anything crazy with it, i think it was just a little loose. anyways i looked on forums and found some guides to tighten it up by pulling the little ashtray/coin holder thing out and tightening the bolt up. i only turned it a couple times and it worked perfectly. i was in my relatively flat driveway and took it out of gear, with the parking break off, and was able to just push the car very easily with my foot from out the door. at that point i did not think i tightened it up to much and called it good. however i just noticed yesterday that when i hit the breaks pretty hard that the red "brake" light (the one that lights up when your parking brake is on) came on until i released the break again. i did it on purpose a couple more times and i did it consistently every time. did this come on because i tightened that little bolt a little to much or is it something completely different? any help would be awesome.

I just finished doing the brakes on my g35 last week. I replaced the rotors and pads and at the same time tightened the emergency brake. I believe the best way to tighten them is from the service manual which requires that you remove the rear wheels and make the adjustment to the parking brake shoes first, then finish by adjusting the brake handle. I did mine this way and they work terrific without any issues at all. The link to the adjustment is:

Hope this works for you.
