Default "Loose caliper/shock" sound coming from front end...

Ok so I got into an accident a few months ago and I sideswiped a guardrail and it took a small chunk out of the front left rim. About 5 days after getting the car back it developed this noise on that side. Its only when im going under 5mph and I tap the brakes. It makes a thud when I hit the brakes then another when I release..almost like a caliper would be lose and going back and fourth. It also happens when im going over a bump at lower speeds..sounds like a shock is loose. I jacked the car up inspected the brakes and suspension and found nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Check ball joint on the spindle/knuckle for play, it connects to the lower control arm.

visual inspection sometimes wont do it, as the actual rubber mount itself is bad. happened to my g sedan.

I would check all the suspension bushings down there due to the accident, but the one everyone is referring to above is the "Translink" Inner bushing.

see here: https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-...translink.html

That would make the front to back click sound? I also noticed(which sucks) is that the back left side of my car seems to "sag" a little now. The car drives straight though so I dont know wtf could be going on here....oh and it doesn't do it in reverse....

My 06 z is doing the same thing, but i didnt get into an accident. Is this normal wear and tear for the z's? if so is there ways to avoid it? Its my dd and I am stock so, would this be normal?

Just went under to see if the link slid off the bushing, but it looks fine. Weird, because the sound is very noticable when I am braking at low speeds and also when going over bumps. I checked to see both sides and they matched and also inspected the brakes. Brakes are still good. I noticed though when I was lossening the lugs under load, that when I moved the car back and forth when applying pressure to remove the lugs there was play in the suspension and it made the same noise when I hit the breaks. Is there anyother input out there about the situation? Would it be the LCA or could it be something else? What other parts can I check?

Have you done any work to get it fixed? I'm scheduled to get it in the shop on wednesday. I would do it myself but I have no time at all. I barely had an hour to get underneth to take a peek at it last weekend. Sounds terrible to me....

I took it to my mechanic today and had them check it out and they told me what this forum told me, that the front suspension had play and one of the bushings had gone out. They ordered the part for me and will be getting it in the next few days. They are going to change the whole new Lower Control arm. $178 for the part and 140 for install

Mine wasnt loose at the picture above. It was loose at the other end of the translink arm. It had alot of play on the bushing and the other end wasnt a part that you can just replace. you have to replace the whole arm.

Every once in a while I hear the loud thump when i brake, but one thing that has been bothering me is the squeaking noises whenever braking on a bumpy surface coming from the front passenger side. What is it?
