Default BBK Question

My Mechanic has informed me that I need new brakes (Rotors and Pads) on all four corners of my '03 Touring 6-speed with the 18" 6-spokes. I, however, would like to upgrade my brakes to a 13" WilWood BBK with the intention to begin doing HPDE and track events. So, I have two questions:

1) Is it wise to just update the Front Brakes with a BBK and keep the rears stock to save money? Or, must I get upgraded rear brakes, as well? (Reason for this question is that the Z06 has monster brakes in the front and much smaller brakes at the rear.)

2) Will these brakes clear my 18" touring wheels or will I need a spacer?

Thanks, Matt

You can upgrade the fronts and leave the rears stock with better pads. Most kits will clear your 18" wheels, like the Stoptech 332mm kit, but check with WW to ensure what you buy fits under the 18" wheel (which you'll likely end up changing anyway after a year of HPDEs).

On Wilwood's site...they have a template that you can use for wheel BBK clearance.

Front BBK is all you need. Also, add some good pads and rotors in the rears and that should be it.

Make sure you don't get the wilwood calipers with crappy components...
