Default Trying to diagnose possible wheel bearing

To make a long story short, I curbed my car on the R/F side and I tried to have the dealer warranty it. They blamed the tires but they have since been inspected and re-balanced. I get the noise when going straight and on R turns. It's a humming that varies about every second even at a constant highway speed. When I take L curves it goes away. I know most of the time a R wheel bearing will get louder on L turns since the load is increased at the R wheel. Could the symptoms be completely opposite and still be the R side? I have not put it up in the air and checked for play at the wheels yet since I have no access to jackstands and I would rather not have a local shop charge to take a look at it.

Why not go back to dealer and tell them "Its not the tires, so find and fix."

I know I tried having it fixed by the dealer once and they gave me a BS excuse ("chopped" tire pattern? WTF) but even now I feel guilty and dishonest because it my fault after all. Besides, I'm capable of doing it myself and the part is pretty cheap. I just need to verify it's that corner that's bad.

I'd put it on a jack and spin/work the wheel for play. For bearing issues its generally easy to spot which one is off.

Grab the top of the tire. Give it a firm shake.

yep, lift it, and try to move the tire top.. as in, dont spin it (duh)...give it a wiggle the other way, like you were trying to take off the wheel w out unbolting it... if theres ANY give...bearing time. Mine just had this issue last month so I replaced them..... it makes a clunking noise sometimes, and scrapes the brake pad against the rotor sometimes, and makes a droning noise when driving.. the sounds is like that a big 4wd truck tire makes driving down the road past you.
Hope that helps.. its a super easy check. Expensive labor tho. 2 hours a side min. You can get the parts at concept z performance , a site sponsor for VERY cheap OEM Nissan. Tell em I sent you if its not a warrantied thing for you...

I just took my 04 to Precision Z with the same problem, noise was coming from my front left. Just go up a drive way with only one tire until the other lifts, then spin and shake the tire for any noise and play.

the chopped tire they meant was like the tire is sort of bumpy, if you have the tire of the ground spin it and feel the tire see if it feels bumpy if not, check for play like everybody says shake up and down, and about the jack stand just use the factory jack but dont move the car to hard while is up if your afraid of the car falling...hope it helps
