tein monoflex rattle / clunking (rear)
Well I've had this since new and always thought there was something loose in the body panels, but doesn't seem to be the case. There is nothing loose but over slightly uneven pavement the rear shocks rattle/clunk. I've been PM'd by others with these coilovers on our platform with the same issue.
Found this thread - same situation with NSX version:

Found a similar thread over on the IS forums...
I didn't see a thread on this on my350z, but this is a very annoying, seemingly common trait of these coilovers. I like them otherwise... Just thought someone should post a heads up.

Apparently a fix at bottom of page of this link involves taking apart the coilover and using some electrical tape - all due to poor part tolerances - nice work Tein...

Here is a thread on my350z that I should have extended instead of starting this new one, though this is for the Flex, not monoflex, the solution might be the same - tightening the top pillowball mount nut:

I have had that same issue. It sounds like something is loose or metal hitting metal, but everything was tight. I had my suspension taken to Tein to have them check it out and they said nothing was wrong. I suspected it was the pillow ball mount so I had them replace the side that was making noise since they already have my suspension. The noise seem to be not as bad as before, but it's still loud. These Tein Mono Flex is not what I expect for the money I paid.

Thanks for the info raj!!! Mine did this a few weeks back out of nowhere. My car sat in the garage till sunday and it made virtually no noise. I researched this and it seems this is a problem on many platforms. I was just praying my strut wasn't blown lol.

had the same problem with my tein and tried several things to fix the noise. really got tired of working on them. i sold them for the hks ls+ and now i have ZERO noise....nothing at all...quiet as can be even after 5 years now.
you would think that with paying that much for teincoilovers you wouldn't have that problem. i think this is a problem with tein in general. good luck with it
