Hey guys,

Just curious if anyone knows whether a power steering rack off of a 2005 350z would fit (and work) on a 2006 350z. I looked a little into and it seems like the set-up got a little bit changed from 03-05 to the 06 models. I have a 2006 and the power steering kept cutting in and out, and when I took it to Nissan they wanted to charge me 1500 for a new rack and install. Well I found a barely used rack on eBay off of a 2005 and bought it hoping it would work. But it seems like the 2006 models have an electronic controller that is based off of vehicle speed to deliver more or less power steering input.

Any help??? Thanks!

P.S. I already replaced the PS Pump and flushed the PS fluid.

 

According to the parts catalogue, 2005 uses a different rack from 2006. I wouldn't advise purchasing it unless somebody could confirm it would fit.

You can get a newly rebuilt unit from auto parts stores for a reasonable price. All parts sold on eBay claim to have significantly lower mileage than actual.

My dealer sells remanufactured parts badged with the Nissan logo by the way.

 

Damn so the 2005 rack probably wouldn't work Sucks!
