Default Evo and STi brembo compatibility

i am wondering if their brembo calipers will fit on our Z. I am sure they are the same model, but dont know if they will be direct fit. If not, then i guess they will not worth the hassle, but if they are, then
I tried searching for old archives, but no luck, maybe someone can chip in

Subaru and Nissan ones are the same, Mitsu ones are totally different..still they are usually grossly overpriced for what you get though (even if buying used)

Hmm.. the STi's brakes seem to be larger than the ones on our Z. Maybe it's the 17" tires that make it look larger on the STi but I swear they look huge!

If I remember correctly, the rear calipers are the same. However, the front pad is MUCH larger than the Z pad. Also, I think the Evo and STi use a similar pad in the front, just that the Evo pad is a mm thicker.

I compared the STI and Z Brembo's together at an autocross, and the STI calipers are definitely shaped slightly differently than the Z's. However, this does not neccesarily imply that they aren't interchangeable. I imagine somebody would need to try it to see what happens.

So basically, if you found brembro's from a STI at a junk yard could you in theory take the whole brake system and put it on a Z?

Rotor size would probably determine that. If the STI uses a larger diameter rotor, then it must have larger sized pads as well. If that is the case, they would overhang on the Z's smaller diameter rotors (if that is indeed the case, as the alternative [smaller rotors on the STI] could also be the case).

Update: As taken from Suabru's website for the STI: Front: 12.7-inch ventilated discs with 4-piston fixed position calipers. Rear: 12.3-inch ventilated discs with twin-piston fixed position calipers.

The Track model Z comes with 12.9 inch fronts and 12.7 inch rears. I would wager that the calipers are therefore not compatible.

We have 324mm rotors in the front, and 322mm in the rear. There's no guarantee anything will bolt up since there are rotor offsets that you have to consider, as well as the caliper bracket design. For instance, even though the R34 Skyline has the same size rotors, there was a 5mm offset difference between the two.
