Steering/suspension problems
Hi everyone.
Due to some stupid driving last weekend, I hit a curb and bent my front right rim beyond repair, as wheel as blew the tire on my 2004 Z. I had to get a new rim and tires for $650, but the tireshop here in Orlando said I had bent some other stuff, as my camber numbers were not looking right.
The camber was coming to -2.5 and the spec is supposed to be between -1.3 and 0.2. Toe was at 2.55, the spec is 0.10-0.
They said I needed a new strut and a lower control arm. There was a very slight pull to the right.
Today, after $750 later, they said it still is not fixed, and the camber is at -2.2. Toe is 0.06. The car is still pulling to the right very subtly. I see the steering wheel off by maybe a few degrees.
They now say I need the upper control arm replaced and the knuckle. That will be about $900.
After hearing that, I took it to Nissan. The gentleman at the body shop said that that should fix my problem, as if the frame was bent, there would have been a lot more of a pull. So I am tempted to go for it, but I wanted to see what people who understand this stuff have to say.
I only know what Camber/Toe, etc mean, but not how they effect each other, or any of the parts I mentioned. I would appreciate any input.

Control arm holds the wheel in place, that is likely what is broken. The knuckle might be bent, so I'd do that too. It sounds like you are on the right track, although I don't know about the prices.
This is a pretty common problem with Zs that smash a curb or go offroad at high speeds. Suspension parts get bent and it's damn near impossible to get an in-spec alignment even after repairs.
An expensive lesson for some stupid driving. Good luck.

Save it for the track next time, suspension is an expensive thing to fix or upgrade for 350z's as you are finding out.
No advice other than replace all the suspension parts you need to and get it in spec. Otherwise you'll just waste your money on tires and your car will drive like ****

Why not use aftermarket parts like this...http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ng&prodid=3967
