Default Need Help With Choosing Springs

So I've had my 2007 350Z for a little over a year now and thinking to lower it. It's my daily driver so I'm looking to lower it about 1" or so using springs. I've been reading the DIY and the rear seems pretty easy, but the front is something I'd probably let the pros handle. For those of you who are lowered on springs and still keeping everything else stock, what input do you have? How long have you been driving with that setup - and how do you like it? This is my daily driver so I want something comfortable while getting that nice lower stance. I've had an integra and a TL-S before that I had slammed and know how to drive lowered cars.

With just springs, did you have to get a camber kits or the bigger toe bolt mod?

I've come across several different types of springs and was wondering what everyone on here recommends for a comfortable ride without bouncing all over the road? Also anyone or any shops in the Houston area that I can go to get springs installed for a relatively low price? - my buddy also has a 07 Z lowered and I talked to the shop he went to about 1.5yrs ago and somehow the price I was given from that shop is $250 over what he paid.

any and all recommendations/comments/etc are appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: Also I have the rear trunk rattle sound (specially when it gets colder), anything that I can do about it while lower the car? I've seen a million plus threads about it but no final solution yet.

I like my tanabe gf210's when I was on springs it rode stock IMO just a little better around the bends, I'd say opt for the hotchkis stuff if your going to have fune in it, if not look into the tanabe set ups, they offer a couple different drops and spring rates, I haven't been on a tein site in a long time but they used to have a set of springs that is supposed to be pretty soft. Dunno if they offer for z33 tho.

As far as alignment I didn't have to add anything outside stock components to get it in check with the springs.

And I'm sure you could find a member on here from Houston that wouldnt mind helping you out for a burger and some beer.. Haha, I would if you were in San Antonio.

Im currently on Tanabe GF210's also. Ride is pretty close to stock. Its a bit stiffer, but not coilover stiff(and stiffness feel is all subjective). I played it safe and bought a rear camber arm and toe bolt kit. Some people said that you could get close to stock settings with the Tanabes, but I wanted to make sure it was done right when I got my alignment. I would say the camber kit is needed. Its not that much.

Other than springs, spacers and exhaust, my car is a pretty much stock track model, and I daily it an hour every day. Overall, I love the springs and think they are a great option for a daily and will hold me over until I transition to coilovers.

I've had some Tanabe G's for about 4 months now. Honestly doesn't feel any different at all, but made it look a helluva lot better!

+1 on GF210's.

$187 from IPP

As far as the install, it is all in your mind. If you set your mind on doing it yourself, the DIYs here will guide you through. You just need the right tools.

everyone seems to be loving the tanabe gf210's... I was thinking about the eibach pro kit since thats only a one inch drop.

Just talked with Sal from Sal's Auto Sports. Great guy and very helpful! IDK whats going on, my friend was able to get eibach pro kit installed on his Z for around $300 but every price quote I'm getting for the same springs installed is around $500+... did some crazy price hike happen within 1.5yrs?

If you have the skills to change oil, you can easily do the springs. Much more rewarding to do it yourself.

^^ Yeah I understand, but this is my daily, kinda scared to screw up something...

Wouldn't mind doing it if someone that knew how to do it was there to kinda guide me. Plus after talking with Sal, it seems like even with a little drop I might need new toe arm and camber kit. specially in case if all my alignment specs are maxed out.

Tanabe gf210. Rides like stock and the drop is nice. just know this, I've read and been told once lowered its only a matter of time before you blow out the stock shocks. Tokico d specs were recommended and they ain't cheap

Seems like your mind is set on having someone do it. Not a bad idea but just for the fun of it, just read through the springs install DIYs. That way you can ask yourself how much it is worth

lol already read through it. seems like the rear would be pretty easy and the front would only take a little extra work.

Thanks man.

I'm kinda in a hard spot now, I'm undecided if I want to go low or not...
When I bought my Z, it was hit in the rear and I had the subframe replaced and I got an alignment done. I have a feeling that my alignment adjustment might be maxed out right now... and if it is maxed out then when I lower it, I would be kinda screwed without going with a camber/toe kit.

Just pick up some toe bolts. More tire wear come from toe than camber.

Correct. Correct toe and you'll have very little negative effects. Camber isn't nearly as much of a problem as toe.

As for springs... Tanabe GF210s are a great choice. Swift springs are another excellent choice.

I'm still worried if my alignment is maxed out right now, that means even thou the rear sub frame was replaced, something might not be perfectly aligned thats why the settings have to be maxed to keep the car alignment in specs.

If I take a pic of the alignment settings from under my car, would yall be able to give input?

Tokico HP are also an option, and they're very affordable.

I'd take him up on that offer... Cheaper, and you'll learn some things.

Not really. But why do you think the alignment is "maxed out?" Also, aftermarket toe/camber adjustment arms give more alignment than stock. Look at it this way... If a drift car can still get aligned at the end of a season, you shouldn't have any issues. I personally know 2 people that did some serious damage to their Zs drifting, and both are really low... And still have good alignments.

Vivid Racing, I think my alignment is maxed out because I remember the people doing the alignment saying something like that, but it's been over 1 yr and I could be completely wrong...

But for the time being I'm probably going to wait off on lowering the car because I'm finishing my degree in December and not sure if I'll be staying in Houston or moving somewhere else for work.

If things are maxed out and you're at stock height, then something is definitely up. I'd have someone that knows Z's well go over the entire rear end.

Congrats on finishing school, by the way!
