ok, so why do some people say to do it, and some others say not to? Any who, I will just do the springmount... All these years, and I am finally gonna do it to my Basics.

Can't remove it, but you can shave it

so, cutting the rear spring mount .5 and removing a collar would yield an extra inch in rear drop?

thinking about purchasing the basis but the modest rear drop is pulling me back

Got a link to this? The only Z's I've worked on were on coilovers. I have no experience modding OEM suspension. I've ridden in and driven Zs on lowering springs, but never installed them on the Z.

EDIT: I found the DIY. That part that is cut is actually completely removed when installing coilovers and replaced by an adjustable metal sleeve. Check the pic below, it's the gold part. You use the green collars and perches on the gold sleeve to adjust ride height.

Some coilovers use a "true coilover" aka "full coilover" in the rear, which completely bypasses the stock mounting of the spring and places the spring right on the damper, like the fronts.
What are the pros/cons of using a "true coil over" in the rear? This would allow you to eliminate the spring boot correct? Can you name off a couple of companies

the newer basis coils DO NOT require use of the rear upper mount. but the rear drop is still listed at only 1.5

Instructions say you do. Did you receive something different?

Bringing up an old thread. Im looking to buy a set of Basis coilovers. Can anyone else chime in on the ride quality and if these have given anyone problems? It looks like the rear won't go super low but I only want to go about and inch or so below stock. looking for about a one finger gap or a little less. I don't want to tuck my tires. Thanks fellas
