Need help with compression rod bushings please
Hi all,
First, thanks in advance for any and all help. I'm needing some sound advice on how to replace my compression rod bushings for the most economical way.
Going toward 98k miles, car feels great no issues, but taking off my last set of tires I see uneven tread wear on my front tires, and dealership confirmed that my compression rod bushings need replacing in front. Everything in suspension is still stock FYI.
Dealer wants over $800 for parts ($200 each compression rod arm w/bushing) plus labor. Too much. My compression rod arms are fine, just the bushing is discolored on one side, and missing a little bit of rubber on the other side.
I am very new to researching this matter, and not expert at interpreting my research, but I see whiteline bushings are $95 a piece, but I don't know what to expect to pay for labor?, or how involved of a job this is?
I understand Nissan only sells the compression rod arms now, no longer selling the bushing separately, but I've read that the bushing for the Nismo (if I can find them) is only $50 each? Anyone in these forums able to guide me on this issue?
I'm a daily driver guy, having only safe fun with the car, no track and not willing to invest deeply in a new setup although I'm sure I'd love the handling over stock even though stock is completely satisfying to me.
Added questions real quick:
Can anyone guide me on what they paid for replacing the compression rod bushings up front?
Any recommendations on another alternative I've not mentioned?
Stock v polyurethane? I really really don't want any squeaking, so I'm slightly hesitant on the WhiteLine product since it's polyurethane, dealer said stay away or it will squeak, but I trust most in this forum far more than I trust most of the dealership guys. (although I will say this dealership has been very good in multiple situations)
Thanks, sorry this ran a little long,

long story short, I posted a second question inside my own thread when I meant to create a new thread, not reply inside of my own question. grin
Yes....I'm tired.
Please ignore this specific post, but answers to my question are still VERY much appreciated.

We offer rebuilt front suspension arms with whichever brand of bushing you want [Energy, Whiteline, SPL]. Our arms come powdercoated and the bushings are preinstalled. We also have a Core Exchange program so you dont have to have down time, or have to take your arms to a shop to have them press them out for you. We want to make the install as easy as possible for our customers.

If you can do the arm swap and don't have access to a press, L-Fab has a great setup. Just get the whiteline bushings and never replace them again for the life of your car.
^+1, they shot me a price on their parts, and wow they are priced great.
or you could get new oem ones online. just be weary on the passenger side, the metal race inside the bushing likes to rust itself onto the body of the car (done many of these swaps)

Thanks everyone, really appreciate the help.
I just PM'ed L-Fab for some specifics and other questions, as I pretty much can't do the install myself.
Thanks for the offer for your new oem bushings, I'm very likely to buy those from you, and thanks for the great price, just need to hear back from L-Fab first. I was asking him if I should do control arms AND compression rod bushings at same time since my car is at 98k and stock suspension.
Is pressing in the bushings a big deal to a shop? Big deal meaning expensive? If not, then $40 for new bushings sounds like the best route for me to go, and then just have someone put them in for a lot less than dealership pricing.
Anyone have thoughts on whether I should have the control arms done at same time as compression rod? Want to keep cost absolutely as low as possible without compromising too much or losing out on the right time to invest slightly in a worthwhile upgrade (like whiteline bushings over stock...is it worth it?) I'm not a race car driver (now while awake anyway)
Thanks again guys, appreciate the great advice.
